JT and Rami, two great voices of reason and information. The only time that I have found Icmeler expensive was when Northern Rock went belly up and the bahoochy fell out of sterling. It was the only time that I have ever had to use my credit card for extra cash.
Expensive? Tell me where else you can get a two way private transfer for the distance from Dalaman to Icmeler for £80 when fuel costs £8 per gallon? Superb meals (not set menus) with a scatter of drinks for £30 or less for two? Clothing that is to die for for a pittance (I don't do handbags or furry boots)? Oh and not forgetting lovely Icmeler in to the bargain.
At Senem, I won a raffle at their BBQ night that entitled me to a free meal and this, to me meant that one meal would be free and that I would have to pay for one. When I asked for the bill it came to 14 lira for two waters and two beers - needless to say I was shocked and challenged it. The owners are still trying to understand that I was embarrassed and that I demanded to pay the 14 lira, plus 28 lira for my steak and an additional 5 lira as a tip. One free meal is one free meal and not two.
Expensive? No, just great value that I truly appreciate.

Every meal comes with chips, which isn't needed....but offer a small portion at a low price if that's what people want!
In the end this year we were asking for no chips, as we didn't need them.
As for soft drinks, well we just asked for no ice, got a full glass of coke, then after a few sips asked for a couple of lumps! Chris & Anita

We're pretty much the same Chris, and often ask for just chips or just rice, and the kids cottoned on to the "ice" trick, so ask for none like you
We've yet to find a place that won't do a half portion of a meal too, which is great for the kids cos it means they can have "proper" food but not a mountain of it ..

Maybe this is simplistic, but 2 or 3 years ago people were very generous with tipping, maybe not so much now so tipping has become more built in to prices if you see what I mean.

icmeler still very reasonable for the level of food and quality of service that your getting
compared to anywhere in the eurozone icmeler is very cheap
also compared to UK prices icmeler wins hands down
pint £3.50 minimum here in aberdeen
also taking into account the amazing exchange rate that we have all been able to take advantage of this season has made everything that little bit cheaper too

I think Icmeler is still good value for money, things have gone up as they do all over the world, but I think we feel it more now cos our country is in a double dip recession.

We don't have as much money to spend, i for one have not had a pay rise in 3 years, but still scrimp & save all year to return to Icmeler.

I remember when it was really cheap but as other members have said the people who run bars , restaurants etc have still got to make ends meet and make a profit or whats the point of working all hours as they do :?:

Really must say, that I'd rather spend my holidays and money in Icmeler than anywhere in Europe! So we'll keep going there for as long as we can afford the flights - I'll worry about how much/little I've got to spend once we're there!! I'd happily live off lamachun for the whole holiday haha

Fanny, I totally feel the same way. I will keep going to Icmeler for as long as I am living and breathing and able to pay for it. I may even retire there but that's a good few years off yet.
I have been for 3 seperate weeks this year, lucky for me! For the first two of the year I only spent £400. On both of those I ate out every day some days breakfast, lunch and dinner plus drinking (quite heavily) every night and sometimes in the day. My most recent visit, I only spent £350 which was brilliant and I did not scrimp and scrape around for money while I was there. Again, we ate every evening including breakfast everyday and sometimes lunch. I drank every night (usually at Havanna Bar with Za Za and the lads) so for me, I absolutely cannot say that Icmeler is expensive.
I also didn't eat at cheap restaurants either. We ate where we liked and most meals for 3 people came to approx £50 - £60. Though my guests were not drinking alcohol, which would have an effect on the bill I suppose but I do not think its an expensive place to be. :D :D :D :D

Ive just returned from my 2nd visit to Icmeler this summer. I always stay self catering as I love to go out and about to the local eateries.Tried the new little family run Turkish kitchen oppsosite the Tansas on the main road. Had a struggle eating my meal which consisted of a little portion of all the choices on offer(buffet style) with fresh bread and a can of juice for the pricely sum of 23lira for the lot. £3.00. My apartment cost the pricely sum of £36 for the week, with £10 for my safety box.Really expensive eh??
On the other hand I spent 2 nights with a friend in a lovely hotel in Perthshire Scotland b+b. Total cost for 2 was £320 then we had drinks on top of that.
Icmeler is getting a bit dearer but come on people we earn in a month more than these poor people make in a season.(well a lot of us anyway) so stop bleating and think yourselves lucky to get away to paradise every year.
   RANT OVER XXXXXXX

23lira for the lot. £3.00.
:D Maybe that's why you think Icmeler is so cheap - 23 lira doesn't work out to be £3.00, but I wish it did.

I do think prices have gone up over the last few years but that's to be expected, they have also gone up in the Uk too. I still think its a cheaper holiday than Spain and I know where i'd rather be.

I didnt really say it was cheap. Prices have gone up in the last couple of years but at least you still get a good meal for next to nothing compared to UK. BTW meant to say around. £6.

Excellent posts from JT and Rami and can't really add any more to them. I can't believe that people are questioning the prices of everything out here. Yes of course every year there will be rises, this month alcohol alone rose by 25% so obviously this will impact on your bottle of Efes! Then there's the cost of petrol/diesel which is far and above the price in the UK (put that in relation to the wages paid out here!) ......

I know people are being more careful with their money than in previous years, it's called a recession, but you are still getting excellent value for your money here and will continue to do so for a number of years yet.

Hi all, returned from Icmeler last Saturday, didn't find it that expensive, good exchange rate. Paid £52 return taxi to Man airport, 15 miles - don't know how they do it from Dalaman to Icmeler at £8 per gallon. Don't eat red meat so can't comment on steaks, only eat chicken, fish. Eat out every lunchtime at Erdem Cafe - baked potato with loads of tuna only 9 lira, + loads of other lunch items, sunbed 3 lira. If you didn't want a mattress, sunbeds were free and by the way our friends were staying at L'etoile and they paid this price. The Russians didn't, they must have harder backs than us. Had lovely meals everywhere, didn't scrimp, don't drink beer but brother does and he was quite happy to pay 6 lira for an Efes. I had the occasional red wine and vodka, very reasonable. Apartment cost £30 per night but happy to pay this. Only food we took were teabags and cereal - All Bran (not seen it in Turkey). Could buy a melon for 1 lira, and if I needed a doctor I went armed with Dr Murat's details. Roll on next year.

Booked my flight today for next May and thenwent to the Co-op for a few essentials. Rip off or what, I could holiday in Icmeler and spend that much money per day for what it's just cost me.

I really don't think the resort is getting expensive , i have just come back from a weeks holiday in Rhodes and the prices and the quality of the meals cannot compare, Icmeler wins hands down. Loved Rhodes and will visit again but the service you find in the restaurants in Icmeler (most of them, we all have our faves cannot be beaten). Price wise again Icmeler beats the greeks each time.
looking at a holiday in icmeler late april/early may and i have been quoted a fantastic price for an all inclusive hotel but even though the hotel food will be good, i will still be eating out every night.
