Postby chrisx » 26 Jul 2012 08:49

It was by accident i found Icmeler when we cancelled another holiday they said there is a nice place in turkey called Icmeler,Ok i said we will try there and have never looked back since, when everyone asked me where is that is it near marmaris??? As that was only place they knew and Icmeler was bit undiscovered at the time but now more and more have found my haven,it only struck me this week as friends we have met and told we are going this week have said ooo where you going Icmeler!!! not Marmaris as it was before duh!!!!! just shows how popular Icmeler has become in last 5 or so years.

I found Icmeler by accident by hopping on the Dolmus outside our hotel in Marmaris.
We had no idea where we were going but ended up in a little village called Icmeler!
This was in 1991 and loved it.
We went the following year and then decided to go further afield on long haul holidays.
We went back to Icmeler in 2004 and wondered why we hadnt been back sooner!
Weve been every year since and must admit although I love it I preferred it all those years ago. :)

We have been coming to Icmeler since 2003 after another accidental discovery. We had decided to try somewhere else next year, but after one day back in heaven, Mrs Toon turned to me and said "Back here next year then?" :D

My first visit was with my brother and his new wife, her mum had been once before with her other daughter and a friend, they all now wish they'd come back again, whereas I kept on coming! It's funny cause I can't get away from people I work with now, and it's not that big an organisation. Another manager was there when we were there in May, two girls are going 2 days after us in August and another girl who was there the same time as me in May 2 years ago has also booked when we'll be there in September! The word is out there - and these are not the people I've talked endlessly to about how amazing Icmeler is either!

We go back on 7th september for 5th year on the run. I've Been forced to go to Egypt next year and I'm not to hopeful of it matching up to icmeler.

Cant explain what it is about the place that makes you want to keep going back. But it's the first holiday destination we have ever been to, we're my wife and two girls (who were 14 and 15 the first year we went) were in floods of tears when we left!

They still cry now when we leave.

Dont mention crying where im at! Its a standing joke now with everybody who knows me, as soon as the taxi/minibus arrives to collect you and take you back to Dalaman and you have to say your goodbyes, its horrible and i hate it. I think i am getting worse with age. Last year when we were leaving the staff even lit fireworks to try and put a smile on my face. As Mandy says to me " silly bugger youll see them all next year".
