Cocktails @ Charlie's Place

Postby Lee » 25 Jul 2012 15:29

So sorry to report this but we feel others need to know. We decided to venture down to Charlies Place and see what the food is like there.

We sat down and decided to have a cocktail each, before the usual Efes. I ordered the charlies special and the other half asked for the Brave heart cocktail. They both came but looked the same orange yellow colour so I asked which was which. With out going into too much detail about the make up, the description of these cocktails was at least a mix of two or three types of alcohol shot such as Malibu, southern comfort with several fruit juice etc.. However on tasting, not a single drop of anything remotely alcoholic or anything like a cocktail. In fact they both tasted of orange and peach.
We called over the waiter and asked if they were children's cocktails, but were assured they were not. I told him that we could not taste any alcohol in them and so he kindly took them away. When they came back we did taste a little difference but not wanting to make a fuss we accepted them.

Our main meals were average from other places we have eaten but the waiters were very nice, it's just a shame we had our pants pulled down and shafted on the cocktails.

Hob Nob is worse for cocktails. They are small and expensive.

You have to be really careful re alcohol. We all know the vodka round the rim of the glass trick, and with cocktails it is so easy to not put any/much in. When I was last in Icmeler I ordered 2 vodka and coke's. the waiter brought over 4... I assume there was some kind of happy hour with buy one get one free or something. None of the 4 drinks been in the same room as a vodka bottle.... it was just coke.. ridiculous. I stick to beer and wine in the main, they cant cheat you with that. I dont mind paying for something... but I dont like anyone not giving me the item I have paid good money for, sorry to hear of your experience, its not nice when you 'treat' yourself to something because you are on holiday and all it becomes is very expensive peach juice or something... it is such a let down.

hi do you mean charleys opposite side of the road from tansas if so im very surprised to hear that there was no alchohol in your cocktails as our very good friend mehmet runs this place with his partner charlie and having known mehmet for a number of years he hasnt got a cheating bone in his body he has always treated us and every one else i have spoken to fairly with the upmost respect and prides himself on giving a fair meal and drinks at a fair price and if i have the right place im shocked that it was the waiters who dealt with your complaint and not either mehmet or charlie who im sure would of rectified the problem immediately as i say im not sure this is the place you mean as there is another charleys further in resort.

Majie, yes it was very upsetting.

Kez&Sue, This was a restaurant called charlies place which was directly opposite Alins grill.
I Know what a cocktail tastes like and I know when there is alcohol in a drink or not and both did not have even a whiff of it, I spoke to several other restaurants about this and said that this does happen.

I just want to share the information to other couples who may visit and so not waste their hard earned cash. I will be writing a short review on trip adviser about my experience.
