Marmaris compared to?

Postby DarrenDilnott » 24 Jul 2012 05:07

Hi guys, just a quick question.
I'm off to Palm Garden Apartments in Icmeler in 8 weeks, and am excited beyond words.
I've not been to Icmeler before but did come to down to Marmaris on a coach from Bodrum about 20 years ago.
I have booked (hastily i think) to go to Club Candan in Marmaris in September 2013.
Having read the comparisons between Icmeler and Marmaris i think ive made a boo boo.
Have any of you guys been to Gumbet recently as i did last year and that was very load, with loads of drunk youngsters?

The point of my long winded question is, does Gumbet compare to Marmaris?

The lovely people at Thomson have already priced up a holiday back at the Palm Garden apartments in 2013 for me. Even with a £50 per person charge its still cheaper.

Since joining this forum i have got the impression that Icmeler is more my kind of town.

Many thanks
Darren

Hi Darren, no comparison. Icmeler is Paradise twice over compared to Marmaris. If you like the quiet life, then Icmeler is for you. Our first holiday in Turkey was to Marmaris in 1995, and that was the last, once we had discovered Icmeler. With both of us working hard throughout the year, Icmeler is the perfect place to chill out and re-charge the batteries ready for the winter. I must confess, to me it has the magnet effect. It must have, as we have been back every year now for getting on twenty years. Leaving for Paradise on Friday morning this week for three and a half glorious weeks, can't wait!!!!!

In 2005 we went to Turkey for the first time, to Marmaris, We really enjoyed the holiday, so the following year decided on Icmeler, never looked back, if you want Clubs theres two, both within staggering distance, we've never been to either, if you want a quiet place to drink while you decide where to eat, you'll find them, If you want good food and above all Very Friendly locals, you will definitely find these in abundance. People ask why the same place every year. I say if we could afford two holidays a year, one would be somewhere new, and the other Icmeler as then we know at least one holiday will be Spot on, as it is we can only afford one........so it has to be everything we want from a holiday.
Enjoy Steve

Have to agree that Icmeler is all you want in a holiday and more. My husband is fussy and absolutely loves the place. Friendly people, good food and laughs aplenty. This is my 5th visit, wouldn't change it for the world. 8) Coming back home on 17 August, can't wait.

Been to Icmeler 7 time in the past 5 years, went to Gumbet for a change 2 years ago we were round the beach away from the centre but couild still hear bar street at 2.00 in the morning, guess Marmaris could be the same if your close to bar st, but Marmaris is huge you could be a couple of miles away from the centre so might be OK ,but personaly id stick to Icmeler,..Rog

Have been to both icmeler and marmaris many times and although i personally prefer icmeler we have had good holidayss in marmaris. I would say that the candan is not in the centre. I have also been to gumbet and would say that marmaris and gumbet dont compare at all. Marmaris is much larger with a much broader mix.
