This year ate in fewer places than normal over 2wk hol only 5 that we revisited, never had a bad meal but Just listing our favorites, Evening meals:-
Kontes Beach- Shepherds fried beef, Kontes chef special ( beef and veg cooked in foil bag with cheese)
Maestro- Steak royal
Venice - Sea bass in raki cream sauce
Bonjour- Chicken in spinach cream sauce, Chicken with pepper sauce
Cupid- Steak with blue cheese sauce, Pepper steak
Calimari was our favorite starter that we shared and was good everywhere we tried it, also the starters with octopus.
Value for money night was Kontes BBQ 28 tl soup, meze course, bbq meats /chips wedge style and roasted veg and then dessert, eaten slowly over 1 1/2hrs and you can go back for more as you wish, from 7.30pm followed by entertainment, weekly event packed both weeks.
lunch:-

every day was like christmas as far as food goes and a couple of nights we could not face a large meal so we had soup the blown up bread & meze and then ordered 5 starters between us , Turkish done tapas style- delicious, we heard others saying that looked a good idea as they struggled with the large turkish portions, we recommed giving it a try.

I'm back in Içmeler next Monday (9th July) and I can't wait to get tucked in to all the good meals I know and love. Usually at the start of the holiday I eat like a pig and can easily demolish 4 meals a day plus snacks. Usually half way through the holiday (we always go for a week) I slow down and start to struggle a bit (I think this is due to the vast amounts of food and Efes already consumed through the holiday lol). Your idea of a few starters to pick away at sounds fantastic as it will be smaller portions and a array of different flavours.

Like you during a 2 week visit I only ate in a few restaurants!

Chicken Kebab Stand - oh yes we were on a tight budget this year and it cost 18 TL for 2 x chicken kebabs and diet cokes - ideal when you need to eat but can't face a large meal (when it's so hot!!). x 3
We also got taken to a traditional Turkish Soup Kitchen where there was a buffet style menu of meatballs, veggie dishes, rice etc.... I chose 4 plates of food including a water and as much bread as you could eat... and it cost 8.50 TL... bargain... and very tasty meal x 1

okay, let me think - I'm hopeless at direction!
if you start at top of canal - you have Broadway on your left and across the road is Florida Restaurant.
Cross the road and walk past the cash machines and follow the road (there is some more canal so walk on the right hand side of canal). Walk to the next main cross road and turn right - keep walking down it's on the right hand side (by a VERY old market and telephone kiosk).... you can enter by the side road and it's like a canteen syle service....

If I'm correct this is a Turkish cafe style eatery that doesn't serve alcohol, is more or less self service & is next to the bookmaker(bookies); if it is the easiest way to get to to is - from Tansas cross the road to the market shop (I think it's called Ankara) & there is old phone box & fruit tree outside obstructing the payment, go down the side street & it's on your right. There is another entrance but this is easiest to describe.
Agree it is a great place to eat, normally only locals go there, authentic turkish food, can eat a lot for very little money.

hmm, im going to have to give this a try. All part of trying new things and experiencing a different culture
going to have to get a little notebook to write all of these directions to different places down lol

Roy - that is correct!! that's exactly where it was!!
Definitely worth a try but you are right - they do not serve alchohol - so have a few before you go and then a few when you've finished eating...

Forgot to say that Ayran (yogurt & water with a little salt added) is a very good drink to compliment turkish food
(when there's no Effes or Tuborg), so if you haven't tried it give it a go. Best if the restaurant makes their own & served with ice, sometimes comes in cartons, nice but not the best, anyway enjoy. Oh & it's cheap; might seem I'm a bit of a cheapskate but I'm NOT.

@Roy - def not a cheapskate.... sometimes it's good to mix it up a bit
The yoghurt drinks - worth trying - but I was not a lover of those... except with a chilli filled chicken kebab from one of the small kebab shops!! it went down rather well then!!
I've written in the guest books about the other restaurants I visited in more detail....

I have been living here in Icmeler for the last two months and heres my list of some of my fave dinners:
Majestic- Chinese menu always good. In fact I have eaten most things on the Majestic extensive menu and not had a disapointing meal yet!
Mandolin- Steak in blue cheese sauce was lovely. Also the calamari starter was great too.
Three Bells (opposit Hanadans)- Lamb Shish, probably the best I have ever had. Korean beef noodles were also rather yummy.
Hanadans- Ciger sis (liver shish)- had this lots of times and always fabulous. Chicken Topkapi was devine also. The mezze starters and lavas bread also fab! The lamb shish and Adana kebab also very good.
Deniz Kapizi- The seared Squid is absolutely lovely. The Lamb shish and the Adana Kebab also fab!
Most disapointing melas so far
The Red Lion- I had probably the worst meal I have had anywhere in Icmeler. Very burnt Lamb shish served with cold watery boiled veg. I did give The Red Lion another chance just in case they were having an off night and went back for the Sea bass. It was Ok, but only Ok. Nothing special. However I have had a cooked breakfast here and it was fine.
Selam- I ordered the liver, but it was very disapointing and not as descibed on the menu. It probably didn't help that the liver was served in gravy with a limp iceberg lettuce salad and cold mash. The starters however were very lovely. So I think I would go back, but just not order the liver. They do have very good reviews online, so it would be worth trying again.

Were here just now and went broadway on tuesday and wasn't impressed this year with staff food was good staff not good we went to waterfall last night never been before it was lovely but where they got 7 lira for 3 waters god knows tonight we went deja vu brilliant meal 19 lira each I will go back

Have to agree with you re Red Lion - worst meal EVER in all our visits to Icmeler, totally inedible steak was like leather and cold too. Can't say we'd ever venture back
Re Selam though, sorry to hear that and am really surprised cos we've eaten here lots of times and it's always spot on. Is it still run by Sybil or Turgay?

Staying at Prestij this year and was going to go to deja vu on first night.
We will arrive around 16.00 hrs.
Don't want to go too far on first night and the guy on the door god fed up asking us in that he stopped asking.
That was last year.
Can I ask, was 19 lira for set meal, and if so, what did you have?
