holiday cash..

Postby david goldie » 02 Jul 2012 23:23

having read in a couple of past post's..quite a few people are taking english money with them to icmeler and changing it over there..as we stay in scotland we would have to order some if not all our english notes if the banks do not have enough. can any one advise is it best to have english £10's or do they take £20's as well.. more so as the exchange rate appears to be better in icmeler than in the uk.. idea's for best place to exchange at the moment and if so what kind of rate is everyone getting.. don't fly out for another 9 long weeks...cant wait.. :P

I always take 10s and 20s, then shop around for the best exchange rate in resort, this year we used wonderbar as we drunk there and it was as good a rate as anywhere, hope this helps...Rog.

Natwest and HSBC cash machines in Scotland will give you Bank of England notes.

We took travellers cheques last year and will be doing the same this year.
You get the same exchange rate, no commision in supermarkets and they are insured and replaced within 24 hrs if they get lost or stolen......cash is not.

£5, £10, £20 all welcome everywhere. Coins are no good as they can't change them. If you're planning to spend lots of smaller amounts, £10's would be better as you usually get offered change in lira and it's not often the bestest rate!
