Calling all Smokers

Postby markcfc » 21 Jun 2012 14:18

Not being a smoker myself, and never had to look at cigarette prices etc, I have been asked to bring some back this year from Icmeler for a friend.

Can ayone answer the following questions?

Where would be the best place to buy cigarettes, i.e at duty free, on the plane or in the resort, and how many are you allowed back into Britain with? also if anyone can give me a rough idea of the cost of say 200 cigs.

Regards Markcfc.

Don't buy in resort, buy on the plane or at duty free. What is available depends on the airline, I would check on the wayout on the plane, and at arrivals check at the duty free shop and then decide from there which to go for on the way home. Limit is 200 per person, I don't know the current costs.

Hi Mark, the allowance coming back to the UK is 200 per person. If there is another adult going with you, they usually give you a good deal on buying 400 cigs (TC are £24 for 200 cigs, £36 for 400) so you would be able, legally, to bring that amount back.

Who are you flying with? Here's the TC catalogue for spirits and baccy, the cigs are listed at the bottom next to the vodka..

If you had got caught with so many you would have to pay the extra duty on them or they would have took them off you, also i think that they stamp some thing in your passport in case you are pulled again.

My daughter was caught bringing more cigarettes back from Tenerife a few years back, she doesnt smoke and was bringing them back for a friend. She was allowed to keep her allowance and the rest were taken off her,and yes they took her passport away and the offence was logged for future reference,if she was caught again, she would be prosecuted.

There are no genuine English cigarettes available on sale in Turkey. They are only available at Airport duty free. All the rest are fake made from camel dung and donkey bedding with a sprinkling of recycled dog ends and god knows what else.

Enjoy!! Cough! Cough!

I was smoking L&M red in icmeler. A nice smoke, if you're a smoker, and if memory serves me right they were about £13 for 200!
Bargain.

Cigs were cheaper at Dalaman I purchased 600 B & H on arrival and 600 on departure. I normally purchase on flight but decided to wait until arriving as they were cheaper at Dalaman last September.

cigs at icmeler are genuine if they have a yellow duty stamp inside with a serial number on so when you go into the shop to buy ask them to open the sleeve and check if the duty stamps are on the packets and if it is then they are legit, the people i gave them to said they were top quality, when we went last july the lambert&butler were 16 pound a sleeve which was very cheap dont no how much they are this year but i dont see the point in buying them in the airport or on the plane when you can get the same thing for much cheaper!

At Dalmar airport they tell you that you can bring back as many as you want as you have already paid tax on them, dont be fooled as this is a con, dont buy any from the markets either they stink of camel dung
