Postby K_Standing » 17 Jun 2012 19:06

So.... i've a lot of good things about Marmaris and not alot about Icmeler. Me and my girlfriend decided to go to Icmeler, have we made the right decision?

YES! Once you have been to icmeler you will not want to go anywhere else! Marmaris is not far away so you could always go there 1 day...you will see the difference as soon as u get there :)

It depends what you're looking for in a holiday. For us, Marmaris is just too loud, too big, too impersonal and too in your face, but that's just our opinion. Icmeler is much more intimate and friendly we have found, where people really do remember you and become friends over the years. It's not a party town, Marmaris is, but you can still find good music and entertainment til midnight in the bars, and then in one of the two clubs. Marmaris isn't far if you want louder for longer though.

Noodles has pretty much summed it up for me too. We always said we've never go back to the same place on holiday, but that was before we discovered Icmeler. That was several years ago - and we've been back once or, more usually, twice a year ever since. We do like to do the coastal walk along to Marmaris, and the area along to the marina is nice, but the resort itself is too big and brash for me to want to stay there. I'm sure you won't be disappointed in Icmeler.

Agree, with Noodles. We do go to the harbour in Marmis for a meal but that is about it! Enjoy your holiday. We are there in 3 weeks.

I have to agree icmeler is much nicer, not as much hassle as marmaris and too big and hectic, we went in for the night last year went over on the taxi boat and got dolmus back, sat round the harbour and had a few drinks, then went to the bazaar which to be fair was quiet and no hassle at all, then after abit of shopping finished off with a visit to McDonald's with the kids ,enjoyed it for a change but was glad to get back to icmeler.

You've made the right choice - but as Marmaris is so easy to get to you'll have the best of both worlds :D

Enjoy!

hi like most people we discovered icmeler whilst staying in marmaris and thought how lovely it was that was thirteen years ago and have returned every year we do go into marmaris several times during our stay as it is so very close but you will find the people in icmeler more laid back, friendly, and will remember you each year you return the hotels also in my opinion are much better not crammed into every available bit of land ,we often take (not my choice)our sons and daughter who are all in there early twentys and they love icmeler but a couple of nights they will leave us old ones and have a night out in marmaris but as already has been said no competition icmeler is the best!

No comparison........... Icmeler is by far the best. Like lots of others we always said we would never return to the same holiday destination more than once. 10 years later, twice a year, we can't wait to return. Counting the days to our next visit. We are still loving it and never get tired of it. All these people who return year after year can't be wrong. Marmaris is ok if you want noise (although it was VERY quiet when we visited for a day in June). Go, see for yourself. I'm sure this will be the first of many holidays you will take there. 11 weeks on Saturday and we'll be there again.

icmeler much better than marmaris :)
quieter and much more relaxed
marmaris is busy and big
icmeler still has a small town charm with a lovely beach
nightlife better in marmaris but only a short dolmus ride from icmeler
