This is my advice and trust me it works 100per cent when you get bite, nothing but nothing takes the itch away keeps it clean and it will not get inflammed.. it stinks to high heaven... but it works,,, the old trusted T.C.P

After 6 holidays ruined because of bites and infections . with bandages on and medication to sink a boat. It works your only allowed a small bottle though. hey you dont get bothered in the market LOL

Never had a bite at night,in july you need the aircon !! and the blighters dont like the cold.A friend of ours one year with us had a nasty arm,all red and swollen from a bite,we were in Turunc and called into a Doctors on their main road,he gave her an injection and a couple of hours later the swelling etc was clearing up. :D

try the lemon colone that you can buy there, they sell it everywhere.
best to buy it from the supermarkets though, not the market,as its not the proper stuff.

it always works for me i use it befor i go out and never been bitten.

When you arrive in resort what I would advise you buy is a spray called OFF! you can get it from supermarkets and the chemists here and it is the best repellent for the mosquitos you can get in turkey. It doesn't smell the sweetest, but it definitely works. It's true the mosquitos do not like the cold of the aircon, but they will probably get you when you are having a walk about rather than in your room. Some repellents from the UK may keep the mosquitos at bay, but I would wait til your in resort and buy the turkish repellent as it's stronger.

We went to turkey last year for the first time there was 5 of us and none of us got bit at all, dont know weather it was coz there was no mozzies or if it was the lemon shower gel we used and the spray. I carnt remember what the shower gel was called but it was from tesco and it was cheap. The spray was from home bargins and its called Xpel mosquito & insect repellent we also got the room plug ins the same. :D

Tesco do their own lemon and tea tree shower gel, I use this with Avon SSS dry oil spray and that seems to work for me :-)

In the borders we also often used that Avon Skin So Soft, (green bottle) think it's an after bath oil, it does work but you end up smelling like a bag a popuri...

best thing I useded so far was some Canadian insect repellent but it was 90%deet and burned the skin a bit when placed on the more sensitive parts like the face so was a bit too pokey.

Like many have said, we also used Avon skin so soft (green one), tea tree oil shampoo and shower gel and took garlic capsules whilst there. Only think we got bitten by......The Icmeler Bug, hence a return in August :-)
