Hi all,
First of all many thanks to the forum members and
ICR staff,
I have a long list of things to do and places to eat whilst we are in
Icmeler from the first of June,
which have been recommended on the forum.
Looking forward to eat the local cuisine but the eldest is a fussy eater, He loves his fish & chips and the question is can anyone recommend a place that serves a great Fish & Chips supper?
I guess you cannot get cod over there, what is the alternative served in Icmeler and does it taste the same?
many many thanks and looking forward to our second vistit

A visit to the Fish & Chip shop on the main road opposite the Babadan is a must for us during our stay. You can sometimes get cod but if not, the fish has always been lovely. ENJOY

FryerTucks on the main road - spot on, there was a quiz night on a Friday last year too !

Fryer Tucks is run by Christine who had (has?) the Travellers Rest. Didn't go in it personally as F&C not my thing really, but it was always busy when we were sat in the old 3 (4) bells throughout the season last year. Was always tempted by the apple pie and custard and lemon meringue pie though...

Why in Gods name do you people travel 2000 miles to a different continent and a different culture to eat fish and chips???????
I cannot see the point.

The point of going on holiday is to enjoy oneself so if fish and chips floats your boat so be it. My husband and I love the local food but if we were to take our Grandson, we would be hunting for ham sandwiches. He has Autism and is very regimented with his food. Does that mean he should not have a holiday? We have not been given a reason for this childs love of fish and chips and we should not judge.

Last year we ate in the travellers rest a few times, and Christine said she was selling up and told us she would be in friar tucks, the food is good old british food, chips, pie n peas, steak, fish n chips, Good sunday dinners with real yorkshire puddings, and desserts, like apple pie n custard, treacle sponge, etc. or just sandwiches.
The meals are hearty and filling.
There are excellent eating places in
icmeler of all origins, every visit we have been, we have tried to eat at all the recommended restaurants, and even gone to places which have never been mentioned, even the 24hr kebab shops.
Hand on heart, we have never, ever had a bad meal.

Had the fish and chips in Sizzlers once or twice last year, nice tasty fish and lovely home made chips. The beauty of this is the rest of the party can eat whatever they want so everyone is happyHope you have got same this year Levant, will be testing next week!!!!

Harry Rams up past the Babadan is the best, great cod and chips, and the most fantatsic Pies, if you don't want a full fish as for fish strips.
Typhoon is also a wonderful host who we have knows since 2002.

Thanks to another post's recommendation we went & had fish & chips at Jasmin, opposite to the Private
hotel & before the Irish bar just off the canal. Charlie served us 2 large thick portions of lightly battered haddock (at least that's what he claimed) with chips & mushy peas which was lovely

. A party of four had just come in as we got served & they decided on seeing ours that they all would have same & said they weren't disappointed, my only complaint was that some of their portions seemed even larger

than ours!! - at home I'm used to what's called the Ashvale Whale - a whole pound of haddock, chips & peas, which used to be cod, & when you eat it all you get another one free, alternatively a free puding of you choice - fantastic

. The meal was 20tl each & we received a free liquior after our meal. Very satisfying, can't comment other places recommended earlier but will certainly visiting them now we can compare with other peoples opinions.
Charlie seems a nice guy too, restaurant became busy without anyone being asked to come in, most seemed as though they were regulars, always a good sign as well.
