Diamond rings

Postby Bev64 » 21 May 2012 20:14

Hi
My husband is wanting to buy me a new engagement ring, just wandering if any one else has ever bought one in Icmeler. Were debating wether to get one when there in July or getting one here, heard you get alot more for your money in Turkey but just a bit worried about being conded and the diamonds not being real eg cubics. Any recomendations please.

thanks Bev

Hi - dont know if the Diamonds are any cheaper in Icmeler - more the gold they are set in. We have bought a lot of gold there inc a Diamond ring. Always use Kurt or Efes Jewellers - always found them very helpful. Definitely the real thing from them.

Call into Fast Fix, next door to ICR office. He will make you any design that you fancy. Take a picture of a ring you like in this country and he will make it for you. I have bought all my diamond rings from this goldsmith. They are usually worth about three times of what you pay in Icmeler in comparison to what you would pay back in the UK.

I wanted a cubic replaced with a diamond in my engagment ring so last year, I took all my old and broken gold with me (there wasnt very much) and had this weighed in in Icmeler. I was gobsmacked when they gave me £500 for it and just paid £150 towards my lovely diamond. Imagine my surprise when I returned home and had it valued and they valued it at £1100.00.
I cant remember the name of the jewellers I went into but I can advise that the ones I have visited in the years Ive been going to Icmeler are very nice genuine people and they will create almost any design for you.

Would definitely recommend Firuze for your engagement ring. I had a new one for our 20th anniversary and have had loads of complements from people who have noticed my ring. A couple of years later I had a trilogy diamond eternity ring. For our 25th anniversary I had a new wedding ring, full eternity ring (diamonds all the way round) and engagement ring. These were in white gold as my others were yellow gold. Myself and my daughters have bought a number of diamond pendants and earrings and have had jewellery made for us that we've been delighted with. Last year I had them made bigger as due to health reasons my hands are now swollen.

You need to have your jewellery valued as the guarantee given to you by the jeweller is not valid for insurance purposes and I'm sure you will be pleased with your valuation. Firuze is easy to find but here's the link just in case

I would recommend Sultan jewellers - ask for Alex.
My now wife and I bought her wedding ring and the following year went back to add an extra row of diamonds. Total cost was £1600 valued at £3400. When we went back I had a princess cut diamond added to my wedding ring.

Suggest visiting a few of the recomendations and see which characters you gel with as that is key when parting with a load of cash. But above all enjoy the experience, the customer service is a world apart from UK!

We always use either Simons Diamonds or Trust , Good prices and friendly service , they can charge less as they are one man bands and do not have large shops and staff to pay for :D

Hi,

I used Greenhouse jewellers just up from the main square and was not disappointed, its a family business with the brothers selling textiles and property. I didn't get a certificate with my diamond but when I got a Rose St Edinburgh valuation it was exactly as it was described and the valuation was double what I paid. What I found out about diamonds is that most are purchased from belgium, so it doesn't really matter where in the world you buy them. What you have in your favour is the exchange rate just now, so buy in lira you will get a better deal....but don't be afraid to buy, although sometimes better if you get a certificate with the diamond. I got the gold for free when I bought the diamond and also got a video of the jeweller making the ring and after about 3 years we got the ring set in Platinum for £200, which was great.

all the best,
