First visit

Hi all
I'm new to this site and it's also my first visit to icmeler however I have been to marmaris before, my girlfriend and I are quite interested in swimming with dolphins as I have heard you can now do this? Has anyone done it? Worth a visit, expense etc? Looking forward to Sunday bring on the sun and efes

Why would you want to swim with trapped dolphins and not in there environment
did you not see daybreak and helen worth coronation street relasing two trapped dolips in turkey
its not a tourist attraction when the dolphins bob up an ddown and get distressed

im not a party pooper but try another day out

....yeah people still go because its their choice, the same way that thousands of folk still go to Florida to swim with dolphins??

Have to agree, went past & the dolphin area is very small but not as bad as the one in Bodrum if it still exists. These young females can be bought for as little as £800, that's only 8 swims (on your own) with the dolphins.
Anyone see the docu/film The Cove?
Out for a walk the other morning & we saw at least 7 dolphins coming into the bay & heading towards the dolphinarium, probably communicating with those in captivity.

Wow, I bet Garry is glad he posted that topic.

Some strong views but as dotty said its everyones choice to do as they wish.

Asking for this to get the same treatment as the post about the new bamboo is taking it a bit too far, we need to be steady otherwise we will be setting a trend with all posts whereas people will not be able to ask a question without fear of being being chastised.
What next, shall we all boycott Icmeler Online because they sell tickets to swim with the dolphins. No I don't think so.

Well said Chris. I'm not at all convinced that, if properly cared for, these animals are distressed. Only as much as a dolphin in the wild trying to feed, and avoid being fed upon is, probably less so. These are intelligent animals, I simply cannot believe that they would interact the way they can with people whilst being in a distressed state.

It's akin to a performer doing the circuit, living in a hotel room and doing the shows. Not the greatest life, but far from the worst. Sure, the dolphin doesn't choose to be the performer. Neither does a dog choose to be a domesticated animal, it's just forced to be....
