Arrived in Resort

Postby sarahnsteve » 01 May 2012 12:42

Flew in yesterday, weather very warm 30 plus and it didn't cool much at night. Town centre looks great. Prices same as last year but will inform in more detail when we have had a good walk round. Little hazy today but still very warm. Not many here we are the only ones in our aparments which is great.

Good morning, the sun is out just having breakfast on the balcony.

Thunder last night but very little rain. The weather is just perfect. July/August travellers I take my hat off to you I would melt but this is great 30C daytime 25C at night. It will most likely rain at some point but who cares. Wife had jacket on last night but stated she didn't really need it.

Prices - Had two meals out so far, Tommy's in the old village and Lighthouse in town. Both excellent. Our holidays are about spending quailty time togther as we both spend a great deal of time working, so when we go out we will spend two to three hours in the restaurant, therefore the bill may sound a bit high.

Lighthouse. Bottle of wine 39L two starters, two mains, coffees and a couple of brandys. Total cost 121L. But walking round you can eat for as little as you want.

Burger and chips 9L
Chicken and chips 10L
Pizza's 8L upwards
Steaks 18L upwards
Many set meal offers 15L upwards

Many are doing promotions on drinks and cocktails but it's early in season. Efes 3 to 5L

Resort starting to come to life as people arrive, how dare they lol. The centre looks really smart, clearly some time effort and money has gone into it.

Finally exchange rate 2.81 yesterday.

Now then which sunbed has my name on it.

Doesn't sound expensive for such a nice restaurant and I would defy anyone to get anything as good in the UK for a similar price.

Thanks for the update and, by the way, surely all of the sunbeds have your name on?

Sorry to hear everything wasn't perfect for you and wondered, is this the same time you have gone before. What was different?

Just a quick update.

Weather is just getting better and better. I know we are lucky last year wasn't this good. I am in a shirt at night and my wife doesn't need her jacket anymore.

Exchange rate dropped a little, but you can still find 2.8. Market on Wed was really busy. Just to clear up a point 3L was for a small beer, 5L appears to be the norm the a pint.

Chef still not open, but has gone high spec like the Loveboat. Must take camera out, but JT's keeping you all informed. Lots of Germans about in All Inc and 5 star hotels which makes resort busier than I think it really is.

We are finding it cheaper than Sept last year, for those who budget £100 a day is more than enough for breakfast lunch dinner out and of course a few cheeky vimto's. In fact we are averaging £70 a day.

Taxi from old town where we are staying is 8L to the centre, but we walk most of the time. The guys in town reckon its going to be really hot this year as the back end of April start of May has been so good.

We are here until 15th May so will update next week.

Big night tonight. Come on Blackpool..............
