A Day in the life of a Rep

Postby shaz » 30 Nov 2006 00:35

7.30 and the alarm goes off....oh i dont want to get up!! reluctantly i jump in the shower and put the kettle on. Breakfast on the balcony , fresh bread, tomatoes and cheese, ten cups of coffee and im ready to go.

9.00 clk :First things first, i must check the forum and the webcam, and look through the diary for the new arrivals.......mmmm i recognise a few of those names, as i slowly start to picture the faces. I plan on when to go and visit, then start looking again at the diary for what my day holds. well theres no sunbathing for me today!! Off i head planning my route for the hotels and apartments that i have got to visit, the pace of the walk is determined in how long i have between apppointments and of course the heat, and how many drinks im offered along the way

After spending the morning visiting all the new arrivals and watching them lay by the pool and swim in that so inviting water 8) , its time for a spot of lunch then back to the office. The whole afternooon is taken up with people visiting the office , telephone calls & paperwork. I sometimes sit there wishing i was laying on the beach  everyone seems to be so brown and i have only my office tan despite all the walking around!! Never mind, back to work ! must check all the departures for the transfers, the phone rings the computer pings, another email arrives and before i know it, the time is 7.00pm and time for me to go home.Where has the day gone!!

Well the days not quite over, the 24hr phone is attached to my side,my faithful companion throughout the summer, awaiting any emergency calls!!!, that i may have to turnout for. So whats the plan for the evening.................Well sit down and maybe decide where to eat or shall i cook, going out seems the better of the options. The music starts from the restaurants and i sit on my balcony watching everyone walking by dressed up... I wonder where they are all heading for their evening of fun. So i jump in the shower ,hunt out the glad rags and head off into the evening. I bump into the customers and have a chat and a dance if the music is right!!!!! Its great watching everyone enjoy themselves. Then its midnight the music stops, and there is silence its wonderful..... The boys walk by with the trays of fresh Mussels on their heads waiting to pitch up their stands to the locals and holidaymakers , making their unsteady way home  Its finally the end of the day, and time to go home to bed...............well almost the phone rings i have to deal with a problem.........I look at my watch its 2.30, i must get some sleep............at 5.00 am i hear the call to prayer and briefly wake up to listen to the sound that i have got use to for the past few months mmmmmm im in turkey, i doze back to sleep again......

7.30am its my old faithful alarm, again!!!! the beginning of another day.

The basic life of a rep, but an enjoyable one, and thats down to people like you who share your holday with us, of course like anything there are good days and bad days.........but im lucky, im in icmeler i see the people come and go, i meet new friends every year and old ones. I watch icmeler come to life and go to sleep, and i get to share my experiences with you on here..

After being dragged into the pool the night of the cocktails Gene, i decided i suffered too much the next day  Surprisingly im not really a drinker. It is a stressful job at times, and not always the party life which some think! but it is worth it . Thats why it so nice to sit back and see others enjoying themselves.

See you all again soon

Thanks for taking the time to tell us about your job. I don't think anyone understands someone else's job unless they've been in thier shoes for a week! once again thanks for giving us a insight.
PS I think you deserve a drink after being on call for 24hrs!!!

Now then you know I am on call 24hrs a day when I am in Turkey and anywhere else come to that.

It's just when I am there in Icmeler I now am able to hide in my place in the village and keep away from the noise in the town where you so love dancing the night away to Africa and Macarena

Hi

Never realised that a reps job could be so stressful!!! No wonder you need the winter months to re charge your batteries :) It was great reading your report. Thanks.

Hi Sharon....

I think you have the ideal job , it sounds great . You must have to work really hard at times , but the fact that you meet lots of new people and that you can put faces to the names of people on the forum must be an added bonus . It also looks as if you have a great laugh and get on really well with the people that you work with. There can't be many folk that can say that about their job.
