A Long Lazy Day in Icmeler

Postby dotty » 29 Nov 2006 09:48

Up to embrace the new day at around 8am - funny how I have no problem getting up out of bed when in Icmeler (unless I've had one too many Efes). The first thing I do is fling open the balcony door, step out and wonder at the amazing sight that greets me, our room overlooks the harbour and that view just makes me realise how lucky I am to be here in Icmeler - I have the same thought every morning. I like to sit and watch all the day-trippers arrive for their boat trips, full of anticipation - I also watch for them coming back around 4.30 - 5.00pm - some are weary, some sunburnt and some I think have had too many Efes!!

Go for breakfast around 9am, there's such a choice but I always make room for two of those lovely wee sweet rolls - one spread with honey, the other with jam. Fully satisfied we make our way down to the beach - we know where our sunloungers are as we leave the towels with our beach boys who faithfully put them on our beds each day. Within minutes of arriving our Ahmet is there "would you like fresh orange juice, apple tea, Efes, etc etc" I've never been able to have Efes at 9.45 in the morning so usually opt for apple tea, my other half however partakes Efes at every opportunity. 12 noon and its time for us to wander along the seafront to the Erdem for a milk shake and sit and watch the world go by for an hour. Back to the hotel for another lie down at the beach and maybe a cool swim then around 2pm have burger & chips or omelette for lunch, washed down by a couple of Efes of course. By 4pm there's a bell ringing in my head - ice cream time!! We walk along to the ice cream stall beside the Joy Munamar, oh I'm like a kid in a sweetie shop - what flavour will I have today? Around 5pm we retire to our room to sit and watch the day trippers return - weary, sunburnt or 'merry', sometimes all three.

6pm usually sleep for an hour, then shower and dress ready for another entertaining evening. Decisions, decisions - where to eat tonight? We have the same problem every night, I say "you choose tonight" he says "I don't mind where we go" so once again I have to either suggest somewhere or we just wander round the resort and choose en route. After stuffing our faces with more food than I usually eat in a week plus wine, beer and anything else that comes my way, we bar hop for a couple of hours just to see if we're missing anything around town. Our nightly ritual always brings us to the Fess Bar around 11.00 so we can listen to the live music and relax a bit. The time we get back to the hotel varies, and sometimes we leave Fess Bar and have a couple of the hotel bar before retiring around 2am. Well there goes another day of our holiday.....roll on tomorrow and we'll do it all again.

Dotty that was a lovely read.
You do lead an hectic life on holiday, but 14 days of that sounds good to me.
This could be the start of a new thread.

Thanks all for your kind comments. Don't think you need worry though Gene it won't be a regular thing, but I just wonder how I'll cope with 21 hectic days next year.

Do you know Dotty, I was just cleaning my kitchen floor after a hard day at work feeling pretty sorry for myself so I thought I'd have a look at Icmeler for 5 mins. I'm so glad I did! you've really cheered me up   I felt like I was really there for a minute and I'm reminded what all the hard slog every day is all in aid of. Another fab hol in Icmeler! Thanks a lot!!
Shaz, please do a day in the life of a rep, it should be interesting.

Yes us Icmelerites have to work hard to be able to play hard once we get there. The forum really cheers me up too, it also makes you realise that you're not alone playing the waiting game, we're all in the same boat

Hello Dotty....

Oh how right you are we have no problem getting up in the mornings when we are in Icmeler , infact we are usually first at the pool .
But try as we might we just can't get out of bed on these dark , rainy mornings we are having here in Glasgow.
All i can say is roll on the summer time.
Thanks for the lovely story Dotty.
