flight prices

Postby kentcabbie » 25 Mar 2012 23:21

Just been reading an article on AOL news, about flight price changes since last year.Seems like prices to Florida and the Caribean have actually gone down from the UK, whilst prices to Grand Canaria, and Egypt have gone up, but the biggest rise of up to 25% is to ..guess where.... Dalaman, should have known....Rog

You're not kidding! I happened across a receipt for September 10 yesterday, couldn't quite believe how much more I've paid for this years flights - and I got May before they went up another 50%!! It's a shocker for sure!

I have recently booked flights with Thomas Cook for a return flight to Dalaman for a fortnight in June the cost was £222 each including 20kg hold luggage and all charges taxes etc.
I have also booked with Thomas Cook for September £217 each including 20kg hold Luggage taxes charges etc.

The prices I think are very good and are comparable to last years prices if not better.

HI Gene, It's very unlikely that you will actually fly in a T.C aircraft this year. They have grounded the majority of their fleet and are sub-contracting out to people like Onur, Mint, Pegasus, Freebird etc. They are just trying to do it cheaper before they go under. But, hey ho!, every cloud has a silver lining, in my experience the others give you a more comfortable ride than the cattle trucks of T.C.

See you soon, I think

Thanks silverbeard21 for putting me on edge. We have booked our flights with TC and after being hit by Agean last year I really don't want to be in that position again, I just want to get to Icmeler without anymore hassle :(

Juejue, Dont worry, They are safe for the forthcoming season as they agreed a new financing deal with their bankers just a short while ago. But next year? -- I really don't know. Their debt is larger than the annual budget for some smaller countries.

Have a great time,

Well I have just booked flight with Thomsons for late June and it was actually £90 cheaper than the fare was in December/January. I hung on in there to see if it would come down and was lucky. If the prices from your airport and dates you want seem high it may be a good idea to see if they will come down. If people are not willing to pay over the odds which I suspect many won't they have to put the prices down.

Got my 4 flights in September last year including 20kg from Glasgow 25thAugust for 2 weeks for just under£1000. Good times too. 7am departure from Glasgow and picked late flight home at 23.35 to get extra time in resort. I was happy with the price :D :D :D

Booked our flights with Tommy Cook from Glasgow in October 2011 for September this year and I doubt if we paid more than £10.00 more than in 2011. As far as we could judge, Tommy had the best prices and flight times available.
As for using other airlines, we flew with him to Tenerife and back a few weeks ago aboard his own branded Boeing 757/300's. Our only gripe and it was sore one, was the 6.5 hour delay on the way out as they had to replace a widget that came, escorted by an engineer, by taxi from Manchester :!:

We have eventually got booked up with j--2 flying from newcastle. Prices are a lot more expensive this year though. We flew with Th-----s last year but could not get a decent price from either TC or Th-----s this year. Still at least we are booked and paid for, so will have to work extra hard for me spending money!!
