Just made a big mistake

I have just made a big mistake while browsing the holiday sites I saw a great cheap deal to Lara beach 8th-15th Feb,
What a mistake I have finaly realised A1 is not for us and turkey in Feb not to be repeated and Lara beach in particular if you want to be stuck in your hotel with nothing to do and nowhere to go this is the place for you for anyone who wants the whole sad details review on TA .I will now have to save like mad and try and recover some Kudos with my other half Elaine who is not a happy bunny and try for icmeler in sept just goes to show the old saying the grass Aint always greener.so from a cold and windy scotland enjoy your holidays to Icemeler when it comes and post plenty of pictures to keep my spirits up.I will now go and stand in the corner till she forgives me

Sorry to read your big mistake and I would agree that AI might be ok for families, ie for children who want drinks etc all day but we would never go AI in Icmeler as we would feel we were missing out on visiting all the lovely restaurants. Did you not check the weather situation for February before you booked? Even in April, the weather in Turkey can be iffy. Well get saving for September and back to Icmeler with your OH. Good Luck

Hi we were in Lara Beach Xmas and New Year and may I say we had a fantastic time. Never been AI before food fab,hotel great not many children at all and plenty to around Lara, Hotel and Antalya look deeper than just the resort of Lara.We have booked to return this Xmas and New year.

If you want the sun and heat in Winter you have to go somewhere further afield and tropical. I would only go nearer the equator in February. Also I would only go on an A1 deal if it was really really cheap (last minute deal perhaps) and you have the money to go other places but then have the A1 if your money runs out. I have done this a couple of times.
Sorry about that but at least you will never make the same mistake again and there may come a time when you can look back and laugh about it.

There is lots to do the zoo,the theatre,musuem,Turkey in miniature,trip up the mountains fantastic shopping at Terra City Lara Beach plus entertainment centres with English cinemas and all very cheap.

Sorry to hear that but keep plugging on for Icmeler , would like to read the review but can not find it on TA. Not that I was ever thinking about anywhere other than Icmeler.

Hope this reaches you over in the corner
Just a thought here and was wondering, if when you entered Turkey on the 8th Feb was your visa for 180 days.
If it is you might be one of the first to fall foul of this new 180 day law.
As you are trying to get back in the "good books, please be aware that your 180 days will be out in early August. When you are booking your "saying sorry" holiday make sure that it dont co-inside with your renewal date or you will be messing about with the visa run and whatever expenses that will now incure. Due to the fact that you cant renew till your expiry date is up.

Could have been there with you, I had an eye on that holiday too, but with the other eye on the weather we did a minicruise to Bruges instead! Heard lots of good things about Lara Beach, but for me Turkey goes hand in hand with the sun and lots of heat, so think we'll keep giving February a miss. Hope you manage to save for Icmeler

Thank you for replying. I checked another of the threads on here about the new visa 2012 and Elaine from ICR has put a link on which does help explain. On that link is a spread sheet which you can fill in with your dates and it tells you how many days you have used and how many left over. Very helpful indeed. If this works, I am well within my visa dates.

I would hate to come to exit the country and be pulled for an overstay. Not only complete mortificado! But, would hate to be banned from my fave place in the world.

not good to hear that you have made a mistake but i do tend to agree with you
nothing beats icmeler for me especially in the summer
although i was in Ankara a couple of weeks ago and it was amazing
