Tandori sizzler

Postby ChrisB » 12 Oct 2011 19:27

Along with the other restaurant I praised (other topic) I must say that the sizzler gave us the best Indian meal we have ever had in all our visits to Icmeler, and a damn site better than many we have had in England. Absolutely first class. We ate there on our first evening and my wife couldn't wait to go back as it was that good. Needless to say we definitely went back. A must for all curry lovers

sharon 1960,
I have to agree with your comments on the Tandoori sizzler. My wife and I ate there twice, once in august and again last week. I had a chicken vindaloo in august which was in my opinion was at best average. I am willing to give any restaurant a second chance and returned last week having a chicken madras and again the meal was hugely disappointing. maybe I have been spoiled having superb indian restaurants close to where I live (Bournemouth/Poole). I do not make these remarks lightly and in fairness the staff there are very friendly and helpful particularly Levant. I suppose its all about opinions.

Par for the course I suppose. Two people can be sitting sharing the same meal, one might class it as superb, whereas the other might not like it at all. We all have different tastes and expectations.

Personally I love the food here, but it would be a sad world if we all liked the same things.

ive ate several times at the Sizzler and all times been excellent with no complaints, ask for the staff they have been friendly and chatty all the times we have been there, Hakan and Levent are little loves and go out of their way to make sure you feel welcome,

Ate here twice last week......Turkish people cooking exceptional Turkish food. Personal opinion but i can get a decent curry in the UK so in Turkey i eat mainly Turkish cuisine. We ate as a party of 5 and not a single fault could be found with either the food or the service.

Ah well as these replies show it is all about opinions and we can only report on our personal experiences. Ours on both occasions were very good.

Hi all,
Sharon1960 and pedro26 are quiet correct. Having recently returned from 2 weeks in Icmeler the worst meals we had were here and the service was poor. On our first visit we had curries - balti for me and chicken tikka masala for the missus. Both were poor . We decided to try the place again for a chinese a few days later but this was worse. The s/sour chicken was terrible as was my wifes food. Also service was poor . Twenty minutes after we had our starters, and should have had our main courses, one of the lesser waiters came over and said "have you had your starter yet?".
I was flabbergasted.
Anyway the next night we went to Masala and the curries were superb-nice big chunk pieces of tender chicken in a lovely curry and the price was same as the Sizzler even with our ICR discount.
If you are a curry lover go to Masala instead or indeed many other resteraunts.
Yes Levent and Hakan are nice friendly guys but sadly that alone does not make a good restaurant,
regards,
Mike.

Anyone who thinks Masala is good wants a check up from the neck up, Tandoori is 10 times better

Couldn't fault the Sizzler for the food when we were there, 6 adults 2 kid's,
we each had a different dish, no complaints from any of us, happy with the service
we got peace to eat our meals. It never came across as pricey,3 of us had set meals
the kids got theirs on the house.

Who said i knew all, you are certainly in the minority if you think masala is good, one of my best friends Aziz works there and i KNOW what the food is like and how/where it is prepared.

No one is ridiculing you, that was MY opinion

We ate there four times in July and would have eaten even more times if we hadn't caught a bug and missed a chunk of our holiday. We all had different things from the menu and it was all excellent. We recommended the Sizzler to a number of people and would only do that when very pleased with a restaurant.

Ate hear several times and had the chinese, indian and the international menu. The chinese was OK huge portions, the indian was a bit bland, portion OK and the international menu was by far the best. Both the chicken dishes and steak dishes were excellent. Price wise, slightly more expensive for the set menu than other places, but still cheap at 19.75 lira and overall good value. With the cheap drinks price and generally excellent service a decent restaurant.

All i was disappointed with was the Indian meal. It was a bit bland, the madras I ordered had no kick at all. was expecting better things having read the good reports on the forum

It was terrible last year Stewart, and they are improviing all the time, the boys rely on feedback to be able to improve things, i asked for an extra hot vindaloo and it was on par with our madras, but it tasted ok, not sure if its their spices or they need to be a bit more generous. at the end of the holiday i had it again and it made my eyes water!
