Hi,can anyone confirm is the allowance 1 litre of spirit for taking into Turkey? Thanks

I thought you could take anything into Turkey, in September I took 4 bottles of Vodka and 1 bottle of Tia Maria from Manchester airport, I think its coming back your limited to 1 litre to bring into the UK

I also took 4 bottles from Manchester in July as well, 2 Vodka and 2 bicardi

It is only 1l I'm afraid.

I didn't bother taking any in as the guy in Stansted Duty Free warned me off of the 2l for £25 deal because I'd be over my allowance. When we got to Dalaman there was not a soul in Customs........gutted

You can take as much as you like in but only 1 litre per adult out.I have been doing this for the last 10 years

Turkey Travel Guide - Duty Free

Overview

The following goods may be imported into Turkey without incurring customs duty:

• 200 cigarettes and 50 cigars or 200g of tobacco and 200 cigarette papers or 50g of chewing tobacco or 200g of pipe tobacco or 200g of snuff tobacco* (see Note below).
• 1 (1l) or 2 (750mL or 700ml) bottles of wine and/or spirits.
• Five bottles (up to 120mL each) of perfume.
• Gifts up to a value of €255.65 (or equivalent).
• Electronic articles up to a value of €255.65 (or equivalent).
• Reasonable amounts of coffee and tea.

Note: (a)* A further 400 cigarettes, 100 cigars and 500g of pipe tobacco may be imported if purchased on arrival at a duty-free shop. (b) Very specific amounts and categories of personal belongings may be imported duty-free, according to a list available from the Turkish Embassy, Financial and Customs Counsellor's Office.

Thanks folks,although I'm still a bit confused. The reason I was asking is that I contacted a bar owner I know in Icmeler through facebook and he asked me to bring him over a couple of bottles of spirits,personally I normally stick to my 1l of vodka! looks like I will have to stay sober!! Always a first time for everything! Also if I buy here can I just stick in case? Sorry if I am being stupid!

Yes. You put it in your case. As you can,t carry it through security.

If you buy it at your departure airport you will have already checked you luggage in so you'll have to carry the bottles.

If you buy from a supermarket before you leave then of course put it in your luggage, just make sure you wrap it well, a few carrier bags and then your towels should protect the bottles.

When are you going? I'm going out to Kizkalesi 3 weeks today

We flew from glasgow in june. On asking in duty free what the allowance was for taking spirits into turkey we were told there's no limit to what we take into turkey but its one litre per person over 18 coming back.We bought 4 litres drank one whilst on holiday and brought one back each. Hope this helps.

be careful if putting in case. We took a bottle of morgans home wrapped it in a towel, when we picked it up from the baggage carousel we could see wet patch on case - broken bottle inside & a broken wheel on our new case - obviously caused by the baggage handlers. Lesson learnt!
