Chateau De Ville

21 Jul 2011 19:40

Going there on 23rd Sept from Glasgow
I have noticed recent reviews have stated the hotel is rather delapidated and in need of refurbishment and is over-rated
Rather disappointed as I assumed it was well rated
Can anyone put my mind at rest ?

Just checked out some reviews and I understand what you are saying. We stayed there the last 2 weeks in June and I put a review on the forum about it. I see from another review that probably its best to avoid rooms ending in 07.Ours was 307,a back view room .Didnt bother us as we dont sit on the balcony anyway. There is very little storage space and I had hoped there would be a bit more than we usually get at budget places, but no. The bathrooms need tidying but one of the reviews I read said 2012 they will be refurbed anyway...don't know if thats true.It is perfectly ok just don't expect luxury unless you go for the presidential or honeymoon suite. Breakfast is fine, didnt eat anything else there.Had a drink at the bar everynight before we went out and its a nice place to sit.Very quiet later on in the bar,we always had a drink next door on the way home, more going on there. Please don't worry about it ,its fine and is in a really good location. Hope that helps.Julie

I stayed here in June this year. Agree that the bathrooms could do with a refurb and storage in rooms is limited, but this wouldn't put me off, hoping to book again for 2012. The rooms and the hotel in general are very clean, my room was cleaned daily.

Location is great -right on the seafront. Breakfast was turkish breakfast buffet. Ate at the hotel a couple of times for lunch and dinner and the food was good, if slighly more expensive than other places. Staff are friendly, plenty of sunbeds available by the pool.

We spent 2 weeks at the Chateau last September - booked thesame two weeks for 2011 as soon as we got back.

Rooms (we had sea view & fingers crossed the same again this year) fine and very clean, staff very friendy and helpful - location perfect - dolmus stop right outside.

got a lot going for it in my opinion.

we have stayed here twice and loved it. i agree with the bathrooms its a climb into the bath just to get to the shower. i told the manager this he said he was taking the baths out and putting showers in guess it never happened.we allways stayed round the bar for a few drinks then went out for the night the bar was allways closed when we got back. but we had a laugh with the lads. when i came back last time with my freind she ended up in hospital they really looked after me coming the hospital picking me up hopefully we will be back in icemeler next year to see everyone

Hi there I am also staying at the Chateau from Sept 25th and although the hotel is in need of a lick of paint and new bathrooms etc it is a lovely hotel and staff cant do enough for you. You'll have a wonderful holiday and don't pay too much attention to reviews on the net as you'll always get those people who find something to moan about. Hope to see you whilst i'm there :o

We also stayed in Chateau in June this year and found it comfortable, clean and friendly. The breakfast is good and the position is fantastic. Unfortunately we overlooked the back so didnt get the sea view but it was ok. I agree the bathroom could do with a bit of an update and is quite hard climing in and out of the bath. I would happily stay here again. We are going back in September but cant get booked in.

Ive had a look at some reviews and wonder where they have stayed before the hotel is 3 stars
ive stayed a was very pleased with hotel
there is room for improvement ie take the baths out, fit better lighting in halls and , night light for balcony, bit more storage space and hey presto you would have a 4 star hotel and if it was bigger hotel might even get 5 stars

beds are comfy
there is hot water at all time ive checked but you have to run shower first
staff nice no hassel
free pool table good condition
good strong sun loungers with padded matresses
mozzie guard on balcony door
good breakfast menu, 8am 10.30am

Hi Billyjoarmstrong and Valeman - we are also staying from September 26th so will see you there! I was also starting to get a little concerned by some of the recent reviews but it is comforting to read the reviews from people who have stayed before who recommend the hotel. i am so looking forward to his holiday....... :)

Hi

We stayed here in June and enjoyed it. Rooms quite small, we were in the roof though. Bathrooms could do with updating but clean. No balcony as such where we were. The staff are helpful and the breakfast is good. The only downside, I think, is the beach. The guy in charge is always pestering you to buy drinks and when you get them they are at inflated prices as I have seen on another post on this forum. He can be quite rude if you dont want a drink. Other than that, the hotel is very nice and I would stay here again but would opt for a room on the front or side.

Just back from the Chateau today and we had a gret time. Allocated a mountain room so we upgraded to the King Suite (£10 per night, they will charge you £5 a night to move from a mountain room to a sea view room if one is available)
Upgrade worth every penny. Only criticism would be the bathroom, needs a slight refurb as it is difficult to climb in the shower over the bath through sliding doors when there's nothing to hold on to and the sink is difficult to use if you are short like me as its set quite far back in the counter, no plugs. Other than that no complaints.

King bed
2 balconies, both with sea view
more than enough storage space both hanging and drawers
Settee
Seating area
Satellite tv (limited channels if you need it)
Lift
Lovely breakfast and snacks (never ate there at night)
Towels for around pool and beach (find them in the wardrobe)
Staff are really helpful and there is absolutely no hassle to eat there
There is limited sun around the pool but with the beach being across the road it didn't matter
Free sunbeds on beach

Air conditioning is £30 per week for all rooms but you probably won't need it September as a lovely breeze through balcony doors and mozzie screens fitted
Safe £10 per week

No-one really used the bar at night although it was manned.

Hope this was helpful, but don't be put off, make up your own mind. We would definitely stay there again.

Not a particularly attractive option for me - I booked my 2 weeks imediatley on my return from the Chateau a year ago and was not offered an upgrade option then (JT said he would request sea view on the booking - so fingers crossed) - Dont think I would have paid it then or now.

What will be interesting is the room that will be offered offered to a work colleague who only booked a couple of months ago and arrives during my 2nd week (non ICR,she was not asked at that point for room upgrade either)

There are I believe 7 non sea view rooms, compared to over 20 with sea view so someone has to get them anyway - without upgrades.

Pete.

thank you very much for the brief review it still sounds lovely and I cant wait to arrive. Could I just ask JT if he requested twin room with sea view for me? I did ask when I booked but that seems a long time ago now.
Hope those just returning had a lovely holiday and look forward to reading a review if you're doing one

Hi Andrea

We did relay the request you gave us but it was for twin beds and not sea view

You will have to wait until you get there now to arrange something with the hotel as they have been full a long time now

maybe you already have a sea view room allocated

I have never heard of anyone PAYING to be moved from a back room to a sea view and I strongly disagree with something like that as some hotels could leave view rooms empty just for people to pay the upgrade

Couldnt agree more John - In my opinion its potentially a not notified rate increase by another name if true !!
I really hope not because I thought the Chateau was excellent last year.
Interested as to what will happen when I check in next Monday tea time -

I too was offered an upgrade when we got there in June as we found we were at the back. Offered for £5 per night, which I think is disgusting considering you have already paid enough for your holiday.

It does seem to be happening then - I agree with you that this is disgracefull - I certainly will be seeking ICRs assistance if I am faced with this on Monday.

As I mentioned in a previous post I believe only about 25% of the rooms are NOT sea views, so I wonder how they work it !!! especially with those that have booked a year in advance.

I now have different feelings towards my long anticipated arrival in Icmeler.

Pete.
