Postby Chris221273 » 13 Aug 2011 10:22

Just done the walk, and a beautiful walk it was too.
Took our time and did it in 2hrs.
Now sat having a kebab and sprite :-)

That's the way to do it - it is a lovely walk, but best not attempted in the main heat of the day. Take it easy and have a nice cooling drink (or two!) along the way. We made the mistake of walking back from Marmaris in the middle of the day in June - thought I was going to pass out!

It is a very beautiful walk, glad you enjoyed it.

Whats the weather like today, I have been reading on Holiday truths that it was windy the other day.

You would probably get more rest doing the walk than walking around Icmeler - there are PLENTY of refreshment stops along the way

It always seems to be longer coming back the other way or maybe it's just the energy draining from you a bit quicker, but still it's nice and healthy.

We have never walked back, we usually end up down the Marina and get the water taxi back - lovely day out.

Is 'the walk' via the main road or is there another route ?.
Sure I've read somewhere you can walk along the beach is that correct.

Yes, just walk down to the beach and head for Marmaris. There is a path all the way to Marmaris.

We've never done this walk, but thinking about it for Aug/Sept. Don't think I'd be walking back though, a few drinks in Marmaris then the taxi boat back sounds good.

We've done it both ways, but to be honest, it's nice to walk one way and get the water taxi the other. Getting the water taxi back is lovely and relaxing and you get a nice breeze to cool you down after all that walking. Of course, the odd drink or two will help cool you down too...

We love to walk to Marmaris and if you walk back to Icmeler in the evening, the view is so beautiful, lights shining and sometimes full moon above the sea... Wish I was there...

I have stayed at the Marmaris park and the Mares hotels between Marmaris and Icmeler and walked this path every day and loved it, lovely views and very relaxing. I also had a few midnight swims on the way back to my hotel some nights, there's loads of bits to get in the water and the water was lovely.
