2.8!! FFS, I waited as long as possible but as it began falling I hit the buy button at 2.67. Just my luck! Oh well, have Sterling as well so hopefully can get a decent rate in resort. We fly tonight, yippee

I did the same Darren but managed to get it at 2.72. It's always a gamble, it could quite easily have gone the other way
I'm taking sterling as well, I was just trying to work out how much extra I can take being as it might be a better rate when I go, lol!

We're back morning of the 3rd so will be sure to post a review. If I can get internet access whilst there I may post a mid-trip report. Our first time staying in a Hotel in Icemeler, always stayed in apartments in the past. 8th visit to the town.

I've never stayed in a hotel either. My husband has a friend working in a 5* hotel in Marmaris and he offered to sort us out with a good rate but there's no way you could get me to stay there instead of Icmeler, I don't care how fancy the hotel is, lol!
As far as I'm aware a lot of the bars/restaurants will have free wi-fi, at least I hope they do otherwise my son will think he's on another planet!
I've been trying to figure out how many times we've been to Icmeler but as the last time was so long ago it's difficult, I think 4 maybe 5. Lost count of how many times we've been to Antalya and Kizkalesi though
You'll still be there when we are. Look out for a Turkish man, harassed English woman and stroppy teenage boy and that'll probably be us, lol!

I have found that I have 1500 New Turkish Lira left over since 2008 which I understand went out of circulation in 2009. I will be on holiday there in three weeks time and I was wondering if there is anywhere in Icmeler that I could exchange my 1500 New Turkish Lira for the latest currency.

Think you may have to go to Marmaris, Micky - found this, which might be of help to you.

"Old TL notes may now be exchanged for 2009 TLs only at Turkish Central Bank (TC Merkez Bankası) offices or, in the absence of a Central Bank office, at a TC Ziraat Bankası office, until December 31, 2016.
After December 31, 2016, old TL notes and coins will no longer be legal tender (ie, official currency). In other words, they will be worthless except for their curiosity or collectors' value."

M + S have brill rates just now 2.78. I got 2.72 at weekend wish I had waited only £149 for 410Tl.

Roll on 26 August when I can start spending.

sorry if misled this is the bank rate do not know the selling rate as yet but its getting better thats all i know i dont even know where my wife found this converter but it is live on her desktop which updates automaticaly every hour all i know is when i buy its a lot better than last year at this time
