Average Price for Meal and Drink??

Postby janeypoos » 07 Aug 2011 22:32

As our departure date gets ever closer (397 hours!) I'm beginning to worry that our budget may not be sufficient so I would really appreciate a bit of a heads-up from those of you that have recently returned from Icmeler regarding meal/drink prices.

We'll be eating out each night at the few authentic Turkish kitchens, 2 adults, 1 child (with an appetite far greater than ours!), we'll be drinking Efes and water/Lipton's.

Any clues as to what we're looking at??? :?

Hi Janey, not sure about prices in authentic Turkish restaurants, but most of the restaurants we use have a set menu, for example, a chicken 4 course meal for 18 lira. Efes is usually 5lira, but there are some places sell it cheaper, ie Buffalo bar for around 3.0-3.5lira. Maybe pay a wee bit more for authentic Turkish restaurants, not sure, but sure if you shop around there will be bargains to be had in those restaurants too.

Thanks for that Dotty. To be honest I don't think we'll be doing the set meals as we only really eat Turk food although maybe my son might like to try something different once or twice.

At least I've got a rough guide now, thanks again :-)

Hi Janey,as well as the pide places/set meals, there's also Pizza Tomato just opp Romance Palace
We've eaten there twice, and the bill for a small magerita pizza, small seafood pizza, 2 cans of coke and 2 large Efes [edited to say we also had a garlic bread] was around £12 or £13.

Margerita pizzas are 7TL compared to around 14TL in restaurants so it's a good cheap option. Seafood pizza was 11TL

. or they can deliver.

I think perhaps it's a franchise?? The prices could be online if you need an idea of cost ...........

Great place to pull back the daily budget or to call in on the way back from beach

I've read about a good pide place (Kayra) so we'll be giving that a go some nights as I haven't had any pide in years and it's one of my favourite Turk foods. I can almost smell/taste it now, nom nom nom........ :-)

Well in that case Katie I should imagine we'll be alright then at Hanedan and Kayra.
The plan is to breakfast in our apartment every day (although I think Mehmet might like to try a Full English at some point!), lunch will be 50/50 between make our own/eat out, dinner will be out every night.
To be quite honest I think the Efes bill will be higher than the food bill each time, lol! :-)
Thanks for the help, xxx

your welcome Janey i hope that helped :)
i think the prices have increased slightly from last year but due to the really good exchange rate this year we are just spending about the same because we are gaining from the exchange rate which we lost from last year
have an amazing holiday

Buffalo efes 2.5tl.
Meals in here at the moment half price between 19.00 - 20.30, so roughly between 10tl up to 18tl for fillet steak.
As a rough guide I would say for an adult meal maybe between 15-25tl, but that's depending where you go.
Efes typically 5tl in most places.
Cocktails between 8-12tl.

Thanks Katie, I changed most of our money up a couple of weeks ago when it was riding high at 2.72, it fell straight away and I was feeling quite smug with myself but now it's riding high, wish I'd waited really.
We're off on the 24th, I really can't wait as it's much more than just a holiday :D

I've heard about how reasonable it is there, we'll probably give it a go at some point but I haven't got a clue where it is in relation to where we're staying! :D
