Rate Today And All Money Questions

Just did a banker and bought half of our holiday spends (going 2nd September for three weeks) on Travelex at 2.71. I'll see how it goes now for the next couple of weeks.

Travelex is 2.64 at the moment and Travel Fx is 2.65

I bought from Travel Fx yesterday at 2.72 as I thought it was going to drop again (after keeping my beady eye on it all day, lol!), glad I did know although it's a complete gamble, I've still got 3 wks and 6 days to wait, it could go either way by then!

I'm up 58 Efes' on what I'd have got last week so I'm happy, lol!

well done to those who gambled at it's highest, looks to go going down day by day now.

was peaking at 2.58 when i was there which i was happy at the time.

as long as the shops have not increased basing it on 2.70 etc you should still benefit from the difference.

I keep reading it's going down n down so do I buy all lira and worry about losing it or get travellers cheques and possibly a lower rate?
M&S is still at 2.66 which is still good!
I fly out Friday.

i gambled when it was at a rate of 2.58 3 momths before we went away, was a bit dissapointed while we were away to be able to get 2.68 and it hit 2.72 just as we were leaving that was 2 weeks ago.

I would personally risk half of it now, and save the other half for Icmeler - up to you Chris, whatever decision you make, enjoy your holidays

We haven't bought any we have decided to wait until we arrive next fri we have some left from last year to start us off but you always get better rate in resort lets hope it rises again it has been up and down. hope you all have a brilliant time may meet some of you there

I changed some whilst i was there in may ready for september at 2.50 gutted its gone up, does anyone know if you change euros easily over there kept a load from last holiday in krakow thinking i would use them again

Gonna buy £300.00 here and rest in T Cheques. Don't want to loose money again. In my opinion Travellers cheques offer security if things go wrong and can be rectified without much heartache. Not too worried on missing out on a few pounds Just get me there!!!

I got half lira and half cheques,Barclays don't charge commission either so that was a bonus,and I'm with Mr mischief on the security front! Come on Monday hurry up! Lol

Hi Chris,we are going to stick with Travellers Cheques ,safe and easy option i think will probably buy £100 in lira just to get us by on our first day the rest we will exchange when we get there

i got 2.70 at the co/op yesterday ,50 lira better off per hundred pound than we got in may and september last year when it was 220 to the pound

Hmmm, seems I've been stung today at our local PO
The rate was only around 2.50, so I just changed enough to get 100TL and it cost £39.67!
I'd already decided to wait until I got to Icmeler to get Lira, as we always get a better rate than at home.
Day one we're doing a boat trip and I can pay for that in £££s anyway, so the bit I've already changed will do for getting pop and basics for the apartment

The USA has downgraded its first quarter growth from 1.9% to 0.4% and since then the interbank rate has rocketed from 2.74 to 2.79 in the last three hours.
