First but not the last..

Postby Blyth Spirit » 21 Jul 2011 11:48

Well we returned from our first ever Turkish holiday on Monday night and have to admit we are gutted to be home, you were all right, as you knew you were, we absolutely loved Icmeler.

We love Turkey, we had initial reservations re. new country the heat, mozzies etc etc, but they were blown away by our experience.
Everybody was so friendly and welcoming the place has a real feel of a best kept secret place, small but big enough for everyone.

Adapted the heat eventually despite it being in 40's everyday, used the parasol & pool to great effect and still managed to get a cracking tan, mind air con was a god send opening that room door was like winning the lottery.

As for the mozzies, what mozzies the only problem we encountered was when the mozzie 'spraying men' woke us up one morning spraying down back lane of hotel.
We took all the great advice, garlic tablets Avon SS and showered with Lemon & Tea Tree (mind the brand we used made it like using lemon curd instead of shower gel !!) never had a problem not one nibble.

Really liked the Efes, it flowed freely and the food was great, weren't overly keen on places like Friends & Champagne didn't think the food warranted the amount of people in there but each to the own I suppose mind having said that we had a great meal & night in Romance Palace on our final night, our pizza & cesar salad was superb.
Our favorite eating place was the Karem Restuarant on the canal lovely traditional food in a superb setting.

Bar wise absolutely loved the Magic Garden could & did sit there all night. Also loved Romeo & Juliet's next to the Navy Hotel, it became our local Hassan was excellent great criac and there snack menu wasn't bad either.

Our hotel, the Kapmar gets mixed reviews but for what we paid found it acceptable average 3* could have been better could have been worse and if it came up again at a similar price wouldn't hesitate to go back.
The hotel pool big enough staff very helpful & friendly bar food more than decent we were quite surprised suggesting there 'new' restaurant on other end of hotel would be worth a try sometime.

All in all we had a great holiday, and are already plotting our return next summer, albeit earlier maybe mid June so its not as hot.

Certainly count us 2 in as Icmeler fans, roll on next June !!.

Great post Blyth Spirit.
I am off there tomorrow morning but only for a week. Wish it was 3. By the sounds of it you had an excellent time and glad that you had no problems with mozzies. I was thinking that they might be but seems not. :)

Great review, makes me wish I was there. Oh, I will be this time tomorrow! Can't wait to get away from the cold & rain and instead have a cold one or two (or three) Efes at the Mitos bar.

It would be great to see your photo's is you have any you can upload.

I've still got 4 weeks and 5 days until I get my 'fix' so I'm getting a bit shaky, lol!
