My girlfriend had to have an interview as she had lost her old passport(last time she used it was 21 yrs ago!) and the interview was last Friday and she received her passport on Monday, even though they quoted up to 2 weeks!!

Take you application up to the Durham passport office and you should get it back in a week.
I think you can pay extra to get it straight away but we just handed our forms over and got the passports back 1 week later.

I do hope that's the case, as my girlfriends passport was posted after her interview, although it only took 2 days mind.

I think they are quicker now , the time guide they give you is a rough guide, yet 5yrs ago for my kids first passport it only took 11 days, the year after for my hubby and me only took 10 days both times with normal postal service.
This year we visit Icmeler in September and we have not yet sent the kids passports away for renewal, 10 weeks till we go and thats plenty time for a postal passport.
