Seeing my Turkish family again. They mean so much to me. We met them 18 years ago and have remained the best of friends ever since. Can't wait till the 27th July.

Excellent answers. It seems going away is much more than a Holiday.
Some can go every year other can not. Some save money harder to enjoy the luxury. A holiday should not be taken for granted. Its a time to spend with loved ones whether you see them every day or very rarely. In essence going away is much more than just a holiday.

Asking this question and reading the answers has made me realise the true value of going away.

We are going to turkey for the first time as our honeymoon but taking the kids. We are paying it out of the money received as wedding presents otherwise we simply could not afford it. From what ive read on icmeler im looking forward to the experience. The extra mile from the Turkish people, the friendliness, the hospitality etc. Spending quality time with the kids that they should get at home but often dont due to work commitments. A break for my wife. Looking forward to everything....lol
Think ive woken up feeling very nostalgic this morning...lol... but it does go to show what a holiday does actually mean to some.

Happy holidays guys and keep those answers coming.

I'm looking forward to seeing how excited my gf is to be going abroad for the first time in 21 yrs & also her first ever 2 week holiday. It's also our first holiday together.
Looking forward to seeing a new culture and experiencing everything Turkish. No burgers n chips for us, we can have them anytime at home.
Also waking up in the morning when ever we wake up!! No alarms and also a swim in the morning and also a swim before getting ready to go out!
Also walking round the shops and seeing all the little nik naks u never see back home.

for me it has to be doing what i want in my own chilled time!

and with icmeler especially - being around that "how can i serve you" attitude instead of the "Wit dae you want ME to do?!" attitude more commonly found in the uk. :)

well worth the months of saving the pennies!! :D

It has to be the whole Icmeler & Turkish experience, being first timers you've got us so looking forward to next week were like kids at Christmas.

We so need this break and having read all your posts & helpful info we cannot wait.

You will still love it. All you need to think about is you. Chill out all day, choose where to eat at night without anyone else disagreeing. Enjoy!

Thank you Sami. I am really excited about going back to Icmeler in October. But after going through a bit of a traumatic divorce, going away on my own is a little bit daunting. But I love Icmeler and I think it will do me the world of good. In fact I am using my week away alone as a bit of a practice run. I am thinking of taking an extended holiday in Icmeler next year! Keep your fingers crossed for me! :D

Just to be welcomed back and made to feel like you have come home again. The Turkish Hospitality is the best in the world in my opinion. :D

As someone's already said, all of the above! I love that "can't believe we're back" feeling that starts when we get off the plane, and builds through the journey to Icmeler culminating in the first glimpse of Icmeler as we climb out of Marmaris. I notch off each one of our "firsts" during the hol, from the first getting up, the heat of the sun, sound of the crickety insects, meal in the evening etc etc

Have to say though, I'll never forget that first time we visited which in some ways was the best - hoping it lived up to recommendations and expectations and being so thrilled that it was all that and more! There's no better place IMHO to spend quality time with loved ones.

So to all those of you who are making their first trip and all those making return visits, have a fantastic time!!
