After all the upheaval last year, a lot of insurance companies are not now including "natural disaster" cover - which covers the likes of volcanic eruptions - as standard with their policies, so you may find you have to add it as an optional extra in some cases. You've just got to shop around and see which ones do and which don't - and which policy is best for you.

hi Dodge,
when i took out my insurance this year I was asked if I wanted to cover this type of situation and paid an extra £10 which is not a lot considering. we flew out the day before the last ash cloud closed airports and was I pleased I paid the extra. :) you just never know. have a great holiday as i am sure you will.

Got mine through holiday extra's - decent cashback too if you have a quidco account (VERY worthwhile getting one if you haven't and shop online a lot). Read it through very carefully when we were out in May and it started up again, it doesn't say anywhere it's not covered, and a lot of them now specifically do say that.

Had a good look round for this coming holiday and they are still pretty much the cheapest for a decent level of cover for everything.
