Dalaman airport know they have a captive audience and feel free to charge what ridiculous prices they can. If people are daft enough to pay their ridiculous prices they will continue to charge them.

I would urge everyone going to the airport to take their own food, crisps sweets fruit etc and refuse to buy from McDonalds KFC etc

I agree with the above post and take your own food. Any restaurant or hotel/apartment will be more than happy to make up any amount of sandwiches you want at a very reasonable price and you can take crisps etc The only thing I buy at Dalaman is a small bottle of water. If passengers didn't pay these extortinate prices they would have to put prices down. Don't moan....BOYCOTT!

I totally agree that the prices are extortiante but even if you boycott I dont think it would work, the prices are exactly the same at the Istanbul airport when I visited in January.
Any of the restaurants will make you sandwiches to take to the airport, Champagne bar made me a delicious beef salad roll for about 7 Lira.

We dont even buy a bottle of water as we take 5x100ml bottles with us and fill them with mineral water then put them in the plastic bag for to be checked at security!

its a good idea jay but you need to remember your 100ml bottles
also if you can just wait until you get on the plane if you dont have a delay its much cheaper buying on there than in the airport

Just got back yesterday - Burger King landside (which is presumably cheaper) were charging 18 lira for 6 chicken nuggets!!!

Through security and at the gate there are little cafes - 7 lira for a can of Coke - actually don't object to this as a) at least it's chilled and b) it's still better value than £3 for a miniature can of Coke on the plane!!

I just go to the VIP lounge and have as much food and soft drinks as I want! I get it for free but you can pay to go in and it's probably cheaper than buying a snack in a shop in the airport.

Dalaman prices are much higher than the UK prices. Two years ago they were charging £4 for a small bottle of fanta or coke, it's probably more now. I remember someone on the forum being charged £6 for a tube of Pringles and that was a while ago :(

word of warning also for the airport
if you do buy something try and pay in lira as if you decide to pay in euros or pounds they will hammer you for the exchange rate
as they will use a much lower or higher one depending how it benefits them
you can book the VIP lounge at dalaman on their website

Istanbul was cheap enough...as airport prices go. Dalaman is in a league of their own.
We take our own snacks in the form of Pide or ham rolls etc

The very first place i ever got "ripped off" was at Dalaman by the then so called porters. £20 for carrying 1 case no more than 20 yds.....once bitten twice shy

It's £16 each, just put 'dalaman airport lounge' into google and there are lots of websites you can book with. You get unlimited soft drinks/hot drinks/snacks and they've got the internet and you can sit on a couch rather than the floor of the departure lounge :D Alcohol isn't included, unlike the ones in the UK, the Escape Lounge in Manchester Airport T1 is amazing.
