ive been going to turkey for 7 year now. first time there a meal for family of 4 was about £25 but the exchange rate was about 2.90. prices have risen over the years as it would any where and exchange rate dropped. i now pay about £50 to £60 for meal with drinks but i still think this is reasonble. in uk you would probably pay about £25 a head plus drinks for what you get. and theres usually entertainment thrown in for free.

Re: Prices

turkey is still very good value for money compared to the uk or anywhere in the eurozone
the exchange rate does have a big bearing though on the amount you pay
a meal out taking into consideration what you get and the atmosphere if very good value for money
xxxx

totally agree with JT bugger the price i know we all have a budget but stay in england if you dont like icmeler - crap weather and crap food in england.Icmeler becomes part of life once you have been .There are too many brits i hear in icmeler quizzing about flight prices, holiday prices, food and beer prices.I always say to people if you are happy with the prices go and enjoy :D

Re: Prices

Well said, watto - I know we certainly couldn't eat out here for the same prices we can in Icmeler, not to mention the fabulous surroundings, lovely weather, friendliness and hospitality from the locals. I know many people are on a tight budget, but you don't have to spend a fortune to enjoy yourself in Icmeler. If you're going to spend your entire holiday moaning about prices, I don't really see the point in going.

If you're on a tight budget just don't go out for a meal every night, or if you do, opt for the cheaper meals. We've had a few evenings where we've stayed in and had a takeaway, the lamacun and pides are lovely and no-one can moan over their prices! You can also save quite a lot on the drinks that you would be paying for with your meals. Your holiday is as expensive as you make it.

we stayed in the selen 2 last year and walked past the blue fox most days. never went in because they never stopped hasseling us, we even started crossing the road to avoid them! shame because with being so close we might of gone in if they'd not hasseled us as much. x

Re: Prices

16 May 2011 11:18

I think it does put people off if you get hassle from a particular place - there's nothing wrong with trying to get people to come in, but when it gets a bit too persistent, I think it just has the opposite effect. We've only had that problem from a couple of establishments, but it put us off and we just wouldn't go into the places because of that.

Re: Prices

we're the same as you blondie, hassle us too much and then we just dnt go in at all! some places spoil it for themselves! x

We spoke to them about the hassling and they told us that they didn't consider what they did as hassling. We told them that if they continued we wouldn't go there but if they stopped, we would. The next few times we passed they nodded and smiled so eventually we went in, the meal was excellent so we wished that we'd gone there earlier in the holiday. If they hadn't hassled us,we would have and they lost out especially as we were a large group. We'll definitely be back there this year, provided that they don't hassle us!

Sounds like everything has gone down in price since we were there 3 years ago would have made quite a difference if the exchange rate has just gone from 1.5 Lira to 2.5 Lira.
Thanks for the reply John

Re: Prices

Hi im off to Turkey in 3 weeks time, cant wait either. Im just worried about how much money would be enough for me as its me, wife and 2 young children. Ive already changed £600 into lira at a rate of 2.40 which i was quite happy with but im a bit worried that prices have gone up. I was thinking if i was to take £500 in english money with the money ive got already would that be enough. Also any idea how much it is for drinks over there at the moment and also what sort of price range would it cost for a meal out for the 4 of us. Any help would be great just dont want to go over with not enough money :?
