hi
pastie63, we always take sterling cheques and have never had any probs, you get the same rate as cash with the added bonus they are insured.

will be taking them again in june found the best rate in past years was the supermarkt under icr.

hope this helps

Not sure why but the Lira has taken a beating this morning, at 8am this morning the interbank rate was just over 2.54 now 4 hours later it's just over 2.60, thats 2% increase.

2.58 today if you have a Norwich & Peterborough Building Society debit card, they don't load the exchange rate nor do they have any ATM fees, just like how Nationwide used to be.

supermarket nor the exchange places will accept coins only notes as they cant change coins themselves
so no point in them taking them
but yes they will accept euros in note for
as the turkish would say
money is money :)

Called into Tesco on way home last night glanced at the exchange booth - the rate was just over 255 no commission or min spend - Couldnt resist £200.

Did something dramatic happen yesterday ?
