Hi all, Although I am new to the forum I have been going to Icmeler for some years and it always comes up trumps. I think that everybody is wary of change and although sometimes it seems strange at first we tend to adapt. I had even forgotten about the train until it was brought up recently and my young ones (some years ago) used to love it! As long as the resort as a whole (and the people dont change) then it will always be special. Saying that, I still need to convince the "other half" to book for this year. Mark.

Part of the underground market was away last year, and the young guy that i had bought t shirts etc was gone. This was sad as it was a family business, but maybe they will move to another place this year. Re the waste ground at the side of the Tansas. I was told that this belonged to the Kurt family, and that they had no intention of giving it up, or building on it. As with everything else we will just have to wait and see what the changes are going to be and hope that it is for the best. :)

For a complete change of theme, how about getting rid of some of the Icmeler All Inclusive Hotels that tend to only attract people from a certain country that I can't name as it would not be PC. These people do not spend any money in Icmeler & from posts over the last 2 years mentioning Boat & Bar owners who have had serious problems trying to make these people pay. We have come across these people recently in Egypt & Cuba & they are a pain in the ar-e. :x

Hi Jan. I honestly cant understand why people go all inclusive, when everywhere is so cheap to eat out.I met a few Scottish people in sept last year who were complaining about the lack of choice in their AI hotels so they were eating out most of the time. S/C is the only way for me.I love buying fresh bread and cheese, and having wee snacks of fruit during the day. Some hotels dont allow own food in rooms, so these people are truely missing the best of Icmeler. BTW i agree with your above comment about not being PC. lol.

Whilst I personally do not like AI, I can see why people especially families with children take this option. Whilst Icmeler is reasonable to eat out cost wise it is not cheap. If you add the price of drinks, soft drinks in particular and ice creams during the day etc this can mount up. I know you can eat cheaply in Icmeler or cook in your apartment but thats not what I want to do on holiday.

Typically the better half and I eat out every night and have lunch at a Pide place most days, we are not big drinkers and yet still seem to spend around £60 per day, so I would imagine a family with say 2 teenagers would be looking at about £100 plus per day.

To be honest I dont think there are a great deal of AI in Icmeler, though I appreciate that this will have an affect on the bars and restaurants

Shop around and you will get deals

I remember coming to Marmaris in 2001 and budgetting on £100 per day for family of 5

I spent the lot but didn't need to and came home with lots of gold etc.

Yesterday luchtime I ate at Levents/Tandoori and their lunchtime deals are really cheap

I had half roast chicken chips with gravy and a side salad for less that £4.00

There are other things like jacket spuds burger chips etc for around 5-5 lira

Go to AI in Egypt but here in Icmeler there is too much choice

It just won't be the same walking down the canal evening time without the stalls. Can't understand the thinking behind getting rid of them.

Do you really save money going all inc, when you take into the quality of food/drink you have compared to the restraunts. No way on earth would you be able to eat or drink more than the price the food and drink you're paying for in your all inc price, hotels aint stupid they will make a profit on it. Plus if the food isn't up to scratch you would end up going out to eat anyway thus spending even more money, been there done that on half board in Spain, never again.

What gets me as well is people who say Ade if you go all inclusive just imagine all the beer you can drink (I like a drink) and you don't have to keep paying for it. Whether I'm all inc or self catering I can only drink so much, I'm not going to make myself bad because it's on tap.

We as a family of four spent around 130 quid a day last year. We ate in the apartment bar most days and ate out in some fantastic restraunts during the evening, never did trips. Worth every bloody penny.

Hi JT.
Good to hear about Tandoori Sizzler, last year they opened at around 5.00pm, so dont have to wait so long for good food and service.

Sorry fellow Icmelerites but my comment was aimed at the specific A/C hotels that cater for the Russians only & not to A/C in general. I realise that certain families prefer A/C for what ever reason but the few A/C Hotels that cater mainly for the Russians are a retrograde step for the future of the Icmeler that we all love.

Nobodys moaning, we are just stating what a certain nation of people are like, nobody on this thread has moaned about Icmeler. If you no longer go to Icmeler why the hell did you join this forum. How on earth going to the caribean can be cheaper than going to Icmeler is beyond me.

you couldn't pay me to go back to the caribbean.armed guards constant hands out for tips for doing the smallest of jobs .tacky shoddy goods and souvenirs at extortionate prices.abject poverty as soon as you leave the five star prison/resort.no i am quite happy chilling in a place with nice people, good food, quality goods, and good trips.a place where in fifteen years myself and my family have never felt frightened or threatened.that's why we go to Icmeler.
