Exchange rates in Icmeler

Postby Caltonian » 05 Sep 2006 17:06

Does ayone know what the average exchange rate is for £-TurkishLira in Icmeler right now? The best ive seen over here is £1=2.637 lira, with m&s.

Ive heard its usually better to change your currency abroad, but im tempted to just buy Lira Traveller cheques over here so im not carrying alot of money over.

Also, would I be charged commission in Icmeler for cashing in Lira or Sterling Travellers cheques for cash? :?

Thanks.

I have looked on the post office website today and their exchange rate is 2.62 lira to £1.

When I was there in May, I exchanged cash for lira without paying commission.

Hope this helps.

The exchange rate on the ICR website shows 2.7774. I have always found the rate to be better in the resort than it is here. I usually exchange most of my money when I am there.

9 Days to go. Icmeler here we come. 8)

Hi

when we where there in Aug we were getting 2.70 to the pound over here it was 2.62

If you use sterling travellers cheques you will get your change in lira at their exchange rate which is normaly more than over here everywhere will take the travellers cheques off you

I've just come back and changed my cheques/cash in the supermarket next to the Chill Bar - he was giving 2.70 to the £.

No I wasn't charged commission - will definitely use them again!

They didn't want to see my passport either - were quite happy with me just writing my passport number on the back of each cheque - easy!

We have just come back and they were doing 2.75ytl for £1 at that supermarket...not that we ever change money. We take sterling..hire a safety deposit box and just use that.Saw a couple yesterday in dalaman airport pay for a meal using a mix of euros sterling and ytl!I wouldnt have a clue doing that! But it seems if you pay sterling you get a pretty good deal in general. :)
