my husband dave and son-in-law neil did it last may. Was worried about my hubbie as he is 53 and unfit. He got back safely, but red faced and close to a heart attack. Neil said he thought he was having to piggyback him back down the mountain ha ha.

Hi viking pete,
The last few In this group of photo`s show how much of a `scramble` it can be, unfortunatly I was on my own, but I will certainly try again. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=11739&p=107523#p107523

I needed the Iron Lung when I got back to Tommys Bar after the "STROLL up the Hill"also needed the medics to give me a blood transfusion after the loss of blood caused by all the gashes and cuts inflicted on me by the gorse and sharp rocks.
I also carried the wife on my back on the way up and also the way down along with 2 gallon of water for pancho our heroic dog who was there to guard us from any wild boar and bear.

This is not for the faint hearted but brave stout explorers wishing to conquer the virtual unknown.
I was 69 at the time and the wife 67 but would not reccomend the walk for old people only us younger end.
Please go in a group, that way if you did have difficulties others would be there to help unless you are very fit.

Gene

ps I may have exagerated about some aspects of my medical help.

Was in Prestij apartments last Aug/Sept and was always on the verandah first thing in the morning. Had a great view of the flag and watched a few groups doing the climb. Might take some small binoculars this year to get a better look. Dont know if I have the stamina for it but hubbie certainly has. I could wait at the bottom for him with a cold efes. Where abouts does the climb usually start from?

I could'nt agree more but the question is union or league and if you do decide to have a go at the flag the last fortnight in May I might give it another go. But I dont think JT will rise to the bait

oops should have read your post properly john v not jt my apologies

Thanks Rab, mrs weetoony has been challenging me to do this for the past 5 years. I have seen the day that I could have done it backwards but I am now convinced that I would need an oxygen tank on my back and a defibralator at the top and bottom even though I don't consider myself unfit for my age :!: :D
