Icmeler Sunday April 10th

Postby JT » 10 Apr 2011 13:07

Quite a few tourists are using the beach but it looks odd as there are no beds out yet and are all lying on the sand but all are swimming and enjoying themselves.

Deniz Kapizi coming along nicely and just before you get to the entrance it looks like the council have made a kind of podium and put an official council ice cream stall there

More bars are opening daily and there are many people sitting outside friends bar below the Greenmar enjoying the sun.

It must be great to watch the build up JT as the visitors start to arrive,But on the down side all your problems are about to begin dealing with them, Never mind a few effes in the evening and one of the tandoori curries will keep your strength up just watch the waist line

Too late for the waist line I think so going to rename it as the plimsol line

I think Hakan and Levent will be trying to open some time next week.

Friends in the square is coming along nicely and should be completed soon.

The furniture for Ida Lounge was delivered today so there will be some photos of that soon.

Zaza is opening the Havana on 15th April

Harrys is open

New Tansas looks same as old one to me except for the checkout area which looks larger

Walked around last night and although still very quiet, Love Boat, Sports Bar and Friends (Greenmar) were all open and people were in there. Elsewhere Babadan (with Ozzy in restaurant), Three Bells (of course!) and Oscars open for business. Probably a few more as well but didn't cover all the roads. Linekers now opening new restaurant where Black Sea Restaurant used to be. Linekers will not be on beach this year and walking past it, doesn't look like any work being done, very overgrown pitch and putt but hey this is Turkey so by next week it could be open!

Majority of roadworks in Icmeler looking near completion. I think in the next couple of weeks there will be a lot of activity in the restaurants and hotels! B&Q (my name for it) next to our house is extremely busy with paint, plaster, waste outlets and drainpipes being bought at an alarming rate! I'm thinking of opening a tea-shop there's so many cars etc. outside!

The new promenade is very wide! Maybe when there are people walking on it and bikes up and down it wont look so big but it really does look wide when its empty. Again the main street at the top of the canal (opposite Florida) looks wide as the previous old canal is now underground.

Tandoori Sizzler nearly ready (organised chaos). I did take a couple of photo's will attempt to put on photo gallery.

Can add another couple of bits to JT's posting:

Have seen a few of those council ice cream stands along the full length of the beach.

Mehmets new 3 bells bar has progressed rapidly and he is aiming to open early May

Lemon Tree is being run by a Turkish couple who tell us they will be offering authentic Turkish food.

Tansas is a bit of a disappointment and as JT says only check out area is any different.

New supermarket (part of a larger chain) opening where Gunay used to be.

Mayor wants building work to stop next weekend.

Resort is coming alive.

Efes or 2 at lunchtime still makes you want an afternoon siesta so will post pics later.

Thanks for all the updates, folks (and the pics on the photo gallery, Kalof!) - it's nice to see everything coming together and I can't wait to see it all for myself. Liking the sound of the "new" Lemon Tree - that will definitely be on our list for June.

Forgot to post that Sabri's is now open for business too.

Haven't been into village yet so don't know what is open up there - apart from Onbasi (Miami Bar) but he never sleeps anyway!

Thanks for all the updates, been to icmeler eight times but missed out last year and went to altinkum instead! Going icmeler again at the beginning of july so looking forward to seeing all the new changes! I just hope they are for the better and they are not trying to make it too much like marmaris!
