Just returned

Postby dotty » 04 Sep 2006 09:58

Hi all, just returned home from Icmeler on Saturday after another wonderful holiday, it just gets better year after year. Once again we stayed at Golmar Beach hotel (4th time) and received a genuinely warm welcome from all the staff there. It was very hot the first week about 42 degrees in the shade and yes I did find it hard to cope with, but once the temperature dropped to a cool 36 degrees I was up and running, even our Turkish friends said it was exceptionally hot.

The resort itself hasn't changed much since last year but the wee train was noticably absent.

We visited many restaurants - Waterfall (twice), Venice, No Limits, Mandalin (twice), Lighthouse, Charlys, El Paso and Harmony were all excellent, Taj Mahal we didn't enjoy the food at all and the Artemis the food was Ok but service very slow. The bars we visited were just too numerous to mention - Dream 3 Bells, Lion, Oscars and Fess were among our favourites.

We did 2 boat trips, one which visited various bays and the other was Dalyan and Mud Baths - a really good value trip, left at 9.30am and returned at 7.45pm £10 including lunch.

Hope to post some photos in the gallery soon but meantime I'm pricing up 2 trips to Icmeler for next year.

Thank you for taking time to post a very enjoyable report Dotty.
It looks like you got round the sights and sounds of a lot of bars and restaurents.
I was in the Lion most nights we were there.

We have booked for May and August next year, I find looking foreword to my holidays knowing that they are booked is a help over the next few months.

Hi Dotty- Glad the Golmar is going well- been there 10 times but didn't go this year. I always felt you were made to feel at home by everyone- including the family that owned it. Hope to see your photos soon.

Gene - Can't remember which night we were in Lion but we only stayed about an hour or so, always liked to end our night in Fess with traditional Turkish music. Also looking to book for end May/beginning June and end August/beginning Sept, but waiting for confirmation from my sister and niece who may be joining us for the August holiday, they've never been to Turkey before and I have warned her that she'll get hooked like the rest of us. She's started reading the posts in the forum and that's kinda getting her going so hopefully by the end of the week we'll be booked - yippee!!
