excited!!

Postby browneyed2005 » 20 Mar 2011 15:11

i know most of you are just as excited but im already in holiday mode, only about 9 weeks til i go (may 24th) and i really cant wait, it seems to recently have come round so fast im panicing a bit to get all my stuff up together, girls u know what i mean (outfits for night, dayclothes, shoes, jewellery, money, etc...!)
who elses take everything but the kitchen sink? i say every year im only gonna take what i need but that never seems to happen, i have 20kg for luggage but i always go way over and end up paying extra, which is why this year, im gonna stuff lots of things in my hand luggage in the hope they dont weigh it ;-)
i hope u all have an amazing holiday get great tans, drink lots eat lots and have fun, i certainly will :-D

My friend takes absolutely everything on holiday like you and is usually over her 20kg allowance, I just take what I need so I'm below to even it out a little!!

I've got 14 weeks to go and I'm already ordering avon skin so soft looking at what new clothes I can buy etc its all part of the holiday I think

OMG I can relate to everything you say, its only 9 weeks till we go too (26th May) and already I've bought too much stuff....and still buying BUT I have a good excuse in that I've lost over 2stone in weight so last year's holiday clothes are too big...well, thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it

I dwindle my clothes to take as I have in previous years taken stuff I intended to wear but never did as I have my favorites so now only take what I am sure I will wear, plus if you are going in different bars you can wear the same favorite outfit a good few times.
Trouble with me is the weight of my luggage coming home with all my spends!

I think ive 15kg so will have to be carefull, the truth is you really dont need a ton of clothes, to keep the suitcase down i managed a weeks worth of clothes in my hand luggage with ryain to spain last year,
theres always a laundry to wash clothes sometime i do that to save, time when i come home,
i make a list im going for 12 days so im guessing 6 day out fits and 6 nite outfits, and if your going with a friend thats the same size swap outfits

I cut back big style and last year baggage was below 15 kg and I had an allowance of 20.... it meant I actually wore what I took.

Last year we were less than 50Kg for the four of us, myself, wife and two daughters 17 and 14

They take different tops and bottoms that they can mix and match giving the impression of lots a different outfits, we hand wash cloths during the holiday which is quick and easy.

Over the years we took so much stuff that was never worn now we know what to take and know that it will get used.

all of these posts are so true , i always take too much stuff. last year we,d had our usual two holidays in icmeler but then i found a really good deal for september, my partner agreed to go again( not that he took much persuasion) but said he wasnt going to pay for my excess baggage again !! so i set out to prove i could manage without the kitchen sink  and guess what, my luggage was underweight amazing what you can do when you plan your luggage instead of panic packing. Im comming back to icmeler may 5th for two weeks with my mother and im trying to plan my outfits and trying to plan with her so we only take what we need but sometimes that extra pair of shoes just jump in the case along with the rest of the outfit they go with

I'm also down to the 15kg restriction, but I have one holdall full of my summer clothes, hairdryer, flipflops, beach towels (which can be very heavy and bulky) etc kept from year to year at my apartment. (again down to the typical kindness of the turkish people). On the day I come home I write in a little notebook everything that I have left in the holdall so that I can remember what I need to take for the following year. (very methodical you must think! well that's what being a secretary has made me, ha ha ha)

Most of my clothes are black, so they all match each other

I do usually go with mum and dad and use some of there allowance too, but going by myself this year so will have to stick to 20kgs

I also leave a holdall at our hotel, but guess what?? I didn't write down what was in it and haven't a clue what I've left there now....typical. I've also tried to cut down the clothes I take but its difficult when you need a bigger size for the second week of your holiday after having all that lovely Turkish food.
