Lemon Tree

Postby Kath » 01 Sep 2006 09:28

Have been to Icmeler for the last three years, love it so much that we have just bought an appartment. Would like to recommend to everyone the Lemon Tree Restaurant-new this year (on the canal (top end around the corner from Avlu 4) , great food, great service and brilliant for the kids - have a Dalmation puppy called Ballack (very friendly but watch your shoes), rabbits and play area .

Lemon Tree

Postby babs » 01 Sep 2006 11:32

I went to the Lemon Tree in June after hearing several people in resort saying how good the food was there. When we got there the waiters were falling over themselves being nice and asking our names - there were only 2 other couples in at the time.

Unfortunately I picked chicken which duely arrived extremely well done on the outside (black) and completely frozen still on the outside. I informed the waiter who brought out the cook who apologised. He then offered to go and cook it AGAIN for me - which I declined, and asked for a simple bowl of soup. That came cold.

When the waiter brought the bill I was charged for both the chicken and the soup. The better half went mad and told them they had a Bl***y nerve charging me for food that you simply could not eat. We got up, paid for the edible meal and left.

To add insult to injury, each and every time we walked passed the place (and we had to because of where we were staying) they shouted my name over and over again. I found this to be really upsetting as they were becoming somewhat personal not to mention rude. In the end my husband had to go over to the waiters and tell them to lay off - it was afterall not my fault that the food they chose to serve to me was completely inedible.

I love Icmeler and have never had a bad experience in any restaurant there - but I will certainly never go to the Lemon Tree again.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience babs. We ate here twcie during our stay inf July/August and must admit the food and service was second to none. In fact we recommeded it to several people in our apartments and they all said how nice it was. Perhaps they have change some of the staff since you first went babs. Di.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience it must have been teething problems because I know they only opened in May. I cannot fault them. They did a birthday party for my little boy, it was a superb night.

hi Kath
like you we have been to icmeler a few times and we are due to go back on the 22nd of september, we were there in July and looked at quite a few places to buy and decided we would like to buy property next to the Robin Hood resturaunt I dont know if you know where this is but there is quite a few new places for sale along this road we have been dealing with Century 21 and I would be grateful for any advice on buying propery. we have also looked at Spain which would be easier and cheaper to get to but we love Icmeler and would love to have a place of our own we could go to

cheers

Hi Big Boab,
we have dealt through Black Sea Agency and they have made it straight forward.
We appointed the owner of the agency power of attorney at the notaries office so it is all legal and safe. The only thing we needed to do whilst in Turkey was to get a tax code, (you need this to open a bank account in Turkey )and open a bank account in a Turkish bank. This has enabled us to transfer the deposit and balance electronically and the p o a can draw the cash and pay everything. You then just have to wait for military search to be complete.

The agency have helped us with insurance quotes, bought bedding in preparation for us going in September and are happy to take you to set up bank accounts, electricit 'council tax' etc. We then had to meet the owner who agreed to sell to us and signed a 'contract to buy'. We put down the deposit in mid August and are going over in 2 weeks to stay in the appartment for the first time. So its only taken about 2 months. the average I believe is 3 months.
The agency will also manage any rentals if you want them to.

We have bought an appartment in a new block 5 minutes out on the village road from the main street. Lovely.

We passed the Lemon Tree every evening and read some bad reports about it, the place was empty every night we passed so we gave it a miss.

Can't agree more Tim.
We now also walk on the other side of the street to avoid the very pushy bloke outside who does not know how to take no for an answer.

Lemon Tree

Postby ochlynda » 02 Sep 2006 21:06

Must admit we had a bad experience also decided after reading all the great reviews on the Lemon Tree on this site before we went in June decided this place was on our list off must do's boy were we sorry. Not only did we wait for 1 hour 40 mins for our main course but we had ordered chicken in brandy and cream with almonds when it eventually arrived it was very little chicken with walnuts in a tomato sauce all I can say is it really did not go. I did not eat any off it complained about it and got nowhere was told this is what you ordered hubby was very angry to say the least when the bill arrived and my uneaten meal was included we paid up as we were getting nowhere with our complaints but every time we past we also got a lot off abuse. This is one place I won't recommend and will certainly not visit next year when we go back either

Lemon Tree

Postby cuerdley1989 » 03 Sep 2006 09:22

Used Lemon Tree twice during our stay in June and found it excellent, but we still think that the best meals we had were at Lighthouse, with Lemon Tree second, Love Boat third and Chef in fourth spot. Maestro was good last year, but were disappointed this year.

Just got back from our Icmeler visit again and had an even greater time than the previuous 2 years. We went to Lemon Tree several times and could not fault it, until we took friends we had met at our hotel. The lady chose Chicken Kiev and found the meat to be completely raw in the middle. It was taken back to the kitchen and re-cooked, but their son ordered a 'medium' fillet steak and this was completely raw in the middle. I could not believe it, as every time my wife and I had used Lemon Tree, the food was excellent.
What upset me more than anything was the fact that Kemal the owner did not reduce their bill. He just offered a plate of fruit 'on the house' at the end and he apologised to me instead of our friends. It spoilt a great night as 2 of us had the flambe cooked at the table by Chef Billy (brother of Kemal) and the meal was superb.
This year they have a little labrador puppy called Viva wandering around and stealing childrens shoes.
The english breakfast at Lemon Tree is excellent value at £1.
