road to nowhere

Postby geordie mafia » 23 Mar 2011 08:53

Hi all,
A bit trivial info needed pls!!!
If you follow the road out of Icmeler that goes past the rear of the Golmar and behind the new Marina buildings, the Google map shows a road - a dead end road - terminating at a large building.
WHAT IS IT???
See you all May 13th, CHEERS.

The road leads to the unfinished hotel, I don't know when the building started but there has been no work done it during our visits since 2002 as far as I know, the security point is stop people accessing the property.

My understanding is that they ran out of money or someone ran off with the money.

One day it may get completed.

Everytime I see that place, I just think what a waste...

Seems such a shame that it never got finished and is just sitting there, presumably deteriorating year after year

Hi Geordie mafia, we walked there last year. You eventually come to the checkpoint, but you can go no further. I took my camera though, and the views from up there are stunning, so maybe if you have a spare hour its worth going up there just for the views and a short walk. One of our turkish friends used to take my children on the motorbike up there many many years ago (1995) and the "ghost hotel" has been empty ever since. We were told that the Council would not adopt the road that leads up to the hotel so it was just left as it is today. Such a shame.

Noticed last year on our boat trip to Turunc that a couple of boats had moored there and people were on the beach,
