Quick wedding

Postby Bazza » 08 Mar 2011 20:37

I've been wondering if it's possible to go to Icmeler on holiday and just get married.. just grab a couple of friends, dive into somewhere and.. just get married.
I suppose it's not as easy as that.. but I just thought I'd ask the question.

Hi I dont know the ins & outs of getting married in Turkey but we watched a wedding last year it was very nice as was the wedding service, But we were told by someone who lives in Icmeler that they were not recognised as being married in England only in Turkey. So my advice is do your home work before hand. :D

ok i dont know too much about it
but its easier if your both british nationals which is the first good thing
i have heard that you need some sort of paperwork to say that the marriage is legal in both countries because i have heard that when you try and get divorced you need to do it in turkey and UK
so im assuming weddings are the same from what i have heard
a quick google search should give you some of the information that the consulates offer :)
hope this helps

Bazza - don't know if you've been onto the Holiday Truths website, but if you go to the Turkey section, there's a whole thread about getting married in Turkey which might prove useful to you.

The marrriage is recognised in England. If you do need to divorce (hopefully you won't!) and you are British you can do this in England but if you are Turkish you will need to go back to Turkey and divorce there too.

if you are both english you have to go and have medicals and alsorts of questions answered before you go over to get married, this has to be done in turkey. We was going to get married there a couple of years ago in turkey but decided to have a quick marrage here flew out the same day and had blessing in turkey

Hi bazza

I have researched into this as it's what me and my partner wnat to do this year. You have to go to your local registrars office first. when in turkey you have to go to Izmir to get your paperwork translated etc. register your intentions at marmaris town hall. and arrange where you want your wedding to take place. the cheapest package i have found up to now for basic is approx £600, thats for all the help you need with your paperwork and to get to izmir and your actual wedding. hope this helps. i wish you could just bob in the town hall in marmaris and get married, so less complicated.
