In relation to ICR's office where is the town hall?

Is the town hall just across from the wednesday market?

The Town Hall (or Belediye) is the large white building on the main road into Icmeler on the left, just before the Wednesday market (which is on your right) . Have a look at the virtual tour : www.icmeler360.com

OMG just logged on and cant believe it. WHY WHY WHY have the stalls been removed :( I have been going to Icmeler twicw a year for the past 16years and the stalls have always been there. Can someone tell the new Mayor to STOP.

The changes that were forced on restaurant/cafe owners on the beach front last year were awful and elderly holidaymakers were struggling to walk on the very uneven blocks which replaced the tiled floors.

Does anyone know what is going to replace the stalls.

Hi jollygreengiant and welcome to the forum. It is not the mayor that made this decision but a ruling from the courts. We will all just have to wait and see what will become of all the changes.

The Mayor is actually not a new Mayor, Zeki Eren (The Mayor) built Icmeler into the resort it is, he has only been out of power for one term since the late 1980's.

As it has been said several times the stalls were removed because of the beach hotels going to court and asking them to be moved, they won and the court order had to be complied with.

Regarding the changes last year with the demolisions this again was a government directive which all councils were forced to comply with or face the action, any buildings or alterations without planning permssion had to go. The same happened in Marmaris, Side, Calis, Fethyie plus others.

I too am gutted they will be moving these stalls as, like everyone has said, it makes for part of the atmosphere. Is there no-one out there in Icmeler who can start a petition or something to stop this from happening. Some one has mentioned on this forum they may consider visiting elsewhere for a holiday if they change too many things and I agree. I used to visit Bitez nr Bodrum a lot but they changed this and now the place is no longer the same so I don't go anymore.

Complete waste of time, it's a court order, to reverse the decision you will need to hire a lawyer and take the case back to court, I think if they was a chance of appeal then the stall holders would have done it themselves but the hotels have far more money to use with more expensive leagal teams.

The only way a petition would have helped is if one could have been prepared before the court date, a bit like closing the stable door after the horse had bolted.

Another point to consider is besides the hotels who does this benefit, not only the local residents around the canal but also all the shop owners who pay high rents, I wouldn't be surprised that they also had something to do with the court order as well.

although icmeler is a beautiful place it is because of the people that we go back year after year, all the changes last year made no difference to our holiday and im sure the changes this year will not affect opur holiday. the area may change but the people who live and work there dont.

All of last year's changes turned out to be improvements. The stalls at the canal were a main attraction especially for people like me who cannot go to the Wednesday market, as I'm in a wheelchair (tried it once, never again!)

I know that the new area may turn out to be just as good, but it was a lovely stroll going for a meal then wandering along the promenade and then around the stalls along the canal. This year it looks as if it will be a stroll in the new area around the stalls or a stroll around the promenade, but not both in the same evening. Looking on the positive side I suppose we'll now go to some new restaurants in the old village instead of sticking to the old favourites.

I am going to miss the stalls along the canal and think it is a mistake moving them it is bad for the traders that were there. But whats done is done and I'm kind of looking forward to seeing where they are going to be now and whats going to be put in place of the stalls. Lets look on the bright side and look forward to re-discovering Icmeler like its the first time were going! :o
