Turkish authorities have indicated to the British Ambassador that the 90 in 180 day visas will certainly be brought back in permanently before May 2011 – but that the £10 entry fee would remain.
But there may be good news as well
On the thorny issue of residency permit prices – for which a Briton pays £370 for a year, compared to an average 145TL for a German – Ms Wilson said she had met with Turkish ministry officials and pressed them on the high costs.
She said: “This year, prices have gone through the roof. We made it clear that they need to be more balanced in their approach as these types of prices are a factor in people deciding to stay and live here, or to sell up and move.
“They are aware of the issues and we have stated that it needs to be fair and there needs to be less disparity between nationals of different European countries. I cannot give any guarantees but there seems to be movement on the issue and we are awaiting news.”

The understanding from the british Embassy when this came in earlier this year and then postponed due to lack of notice is that the way the Visa will work is that you purchase one visa for £10, this will then allow you to spend 90 days in total within a period of 180 days, on day 181 you can purchase a new visa.
For me this basically means
You purchase a Visa on 01/05/2011 you can then come and go, your total visits must not exceed 90 days until the 27/11/2011, on the 28/11/2011 you can purchase a new visa and the clock starts again, if you need to stay more than 90 days you need to purchase a resident visa currently £370.
So if you spend 2-3 weeks in May and 2-3 weeks in September you save £10 per person, if you spend 2 months in May/June and 2 months in September/October you need to purchase a residents visa.
I am sure everything will be announced and clarified on the first quarter next year, keep an eye on the British Embassy websites.

Thanks for that Dave. However as OH says they'll soon change it if they are losing out on the visa fees

The problem is they are introducing this as they believe they are loosing out on resident permits at £370 a year.

Far better to bite the bullet and pay the 370 than messing round paying to leave and enter the country again.

Don't be waiting to book for September Marie as the Chateau will already be full if you leave it any longer

370 is expensive

hope i dont have to pay that to go in the summer

I'm still trying to understand all this from a multiple holiday point of view
If we were to go on holiday for two weeks in May and pay £10 visa and then again in September would we need to pay the £10 visa again? Dave's post of £10 saving has thrown me as i thought the Visa's still lasted for 90 days and we would have to pay the £10 again.

You pay £10 once, your two weeks in May is 15 Days (14 Nights), your two weeks in September is 15 Days (14 Nights) so you have used 30 days out of the possible 90 you are allowed over a 180 day period.
They is still no confirmation yet that this is being introduced so we still have to wait and see,

really really hope that its not introduced as it will limit people that go for the summer for example but dont stay long enough for a residency
also when visiting rhodes the turkish government are getting the money for the passengers
the port tax at
marmaris port for each individual
and the new £10 visa on the return
its not like they arent making anything out of it

Oh ok, thanks Dave
So potentially you could make as many visits as you want within 180 days as long as it doesn't exceed 90 days for £10.

Hello again
I've read on another forum that the visa is increasing to £20, they have read this when booking a flight only with Th***s C**k but I haven't seen anywhere how true this is.
Anyone heard or read this??

There is no truth in the £20 visa and also the 90 in 180 days has not been re-introduced yet.
Plenty of information will be avaliable at the time, the turkish government dont want another fiasco like the last time it tried to introduce it by the back door.
