This is a must read for anyone who is unsure of visiting icmeler.
In august last year whilst on my eighth visit ti icmeler i took a boat trip which i booked by the beach.At the first swimming stop i dove from the boat into the crystal clear sea which was about 39 feet deep.However approx 30 mins later i realised i had lost my expensive oalkley sunglasses.I told the captain who assured me that the next next time he visited that swim stop he would dive down and find my glasses and he asked for my phone number which i gave him.
Anyway after a great holiday as ever we returned home.I had come to terms with losing my shades by then.Imagine my shock when over a month later the boat captain rang me to say he had found my glasses.He went on to say he had a british friend visiting him in the winter and he would ask them to post them to me on their return to the u.k.
Again i had forgotten but yesterday i received a call from a lady saying she needed my adress as she was about to post my sunglasses.Sure enough they arrived this morning 23/12/10 just in time for christmas.
I thought i should share this story on the forum as it totally sums up the integrity and personality of our turkish hosts to a tee.In fact where else in the world could you go and have an experience like this.
We have booked for 3 weeks again in august and guess whos boat we will be going on??i wont say the name cos icr run there own trips which are excellent and i have no doubt that the same scenario would happen on theirs or any other trip.

That just totally sums up the people in Icmeler, they cant do enough for you and make you feel right at home cant wait for Aug. next year. Bring it on

This year while sun bathing at our apartments two business men were meeting with the manageress , my daughters boyfriend loves hats and one of them was wearing a checked style trilby which my daughter thought would be a wonderful gift for her fella, later in the evening we asked the mangeress if she knew where we could purchase one we were promised that she would find out.

The following day she contacted the man who informed her it was from Bodrum and he was going there on business in a couple of days so would get one, about 5 days later a hat arrived, he had purchsed it as promised, he had then gone to Izmir and was delayed on business so used a courier service to send it to us. I asked how much I owed and was informed it was his gift to us (Remember we had never met him). The hat actually had a 110TL price label on it and was really high quality work.

Fantastic generousity from a true Turkish gentlemen.

I love reading these type of stories which echo my sentiments about Icmeler an the wonderful hospitality of the Turkish people. Sadly, I have read a few negative comments about Icmeler this year (not just on here), and most of them were quite removed from my own experiences, so it's lovely to read about incidents like these.

Thanks for posting and bringing a smile to my face this morning (first day back in work after Xmas).

Isn't it strange how Icmeler is even more in our thoughts as soon as Xmas is over.

Stories like these really make me smile and realise why i love Icmeler and the people so much.

I hope i get to visit paradise in the summer.
