Turunc

I have been looking at a villa in Turunc for next June holiday and I am looking along the lines of having 3 days in Icmeler, then a week in the villa in Turunc, then back to Icmeler for the last 4 days.

Have any of you holidayed in Turunc before? I have only been to Turunc when on a boat trip, so I dont have the feel of the place. Is it just like a mini Icmeler, with some entertainment and some quieter pubs?

Mary if you do intend to do it then don't split it that way.

Do a week in Turunc first then over to Icmeler for the last week, or why not try 4 days Turunc, 6 days Icmeler and then finish off with 4 days in Dalyan

Same here. Two or three days would be enough for me and that would be mainly for the beach every day.

The difference this time is that my Sister and Brother in Law are coming with us, so its her first time to Turkey, and I think she would prefer the Villa rather than the Apartments, as she is not really a drinker (unlike her Sister ) The villa is not available until the 14th anyway and we arrive on 11th, thats why we are splitting it with 3 days, then a week, then 4 days. My Sister returns home on the day we come back to Icmeler.

Thank you all for your views, I just hope I can find plenty to do though but if not, there is a regular taxi boat

Maybe next time, I just wanted to have a short time out of Icmeler myself, so thought Turunc was a good choice and not too far to go if I get homesick

Are you sure that deep down your Sister is not a bit of a party animal? I hardly drink and usually spend evenings in Icmeler with nothing stronger than fresh orange and have a fabulous time. She may find Turunc a bit boring.
Anyway am sure you will show her a good time whereever you stay but just pointing out that many different types appreciate the magic of Icmeler, to me no other place holds a candle to it and have tried other places in Turkey.

She will have 3 days and nights in Icmeler prior to Turunc anyway, and if she doesnt like Turunc, we can always come back to Icmeler. I just know she will love the Turkish hospitality.

Thats great, am sure she will catch the "Icmeler addiction" like the rest of us though! Only cure is to just save, keep going back and in-between to relive the addiction come on this forum! Life will never be the same again for her! It will be wonderful to watch someone see everything for the first time.

Really looking to having a villa for a change instead of a bedroom and kitchen with two rings. It will be nice to see what its like to sort of 'live normal' and even a washing machine. Much less clothes in the suitcase and more room for shopping

Mary, there is PLENTY to do in Turunc. I have been going 2/3 times a year for 7 years and have never for one moment been bored. It's true that it's much quieter than Icmeler but there are plenty of restaurants and bars and there are still plenty that I have yet to try.

hi good evening to reesy1959. i've stayed at two hotels in turunc. it's a wee bit different from icmeler as it's quieter. the pace is slower. the beach is spotless it has a blue flag award. there is a great restaurant at end of beach at harbour side where the bridge is. They do a smashing casserole. (it's on the web site for turunc). the bus comes from marmaris and drops you off at the beach. the scenery is fantastic. There are water taxis to icmeler and marmaris as well as other boat trips. N.B. boat trips arrive daily to the beach BUT it's great when they leave, you feel that Turunc belongs to you and it's very chill out. There are some silver shops and usual t-shirt and tourist stalls, but you'r not hassled at all. plenty of nice small places along the beach front for a drink or something to eat. everyone friendly. I am really looking forward to our week in Turunc now and my Sister has seen the link and is actually excited about visiting Turkey (its taken me 5 years to convince her to go to Turkey). I am sure we will alll have a great time, and I am really looking forward to having a week in a different place too now.

Mary, the only reason we started to stay in Icmeler was because we couldn't find suitable accommodation in Turunc at the right price, whilst we do love Icmeler and the hotel we use all the time, if we could find the right place in Turunc we'd be there like a shot. It may be small, only really the main street of shops, but it has plenty of resautarants/bars to keep me going and there is such a relaxed atmosphere it just can't be described (try a few days there, take a trip to Marmaris, and you'll feel you just can't wait to get back).

Don't worry about not enough to do, you're only a dolmus/taxi boat away from more "life", but I bet Turunc will win you around too. Suppose it depends on what you want from a holiday, I just want to relax, have nice meals, stroll along the beach front with no hassle - Turunc gives me that.

Whatever you decide, I hope you all enjoy
