Hassle

Postby Bazza » 16 Sep 2010 20:43

We were last in Icmeler in 2007 and the police were clamping down on the hassling.. we witnessed severel bars being closed for 3 days because of it.. I was wondering what it's like now. I really don't like being hassled even though 90% of the hasslers will leave you alone if you just reply 'no thanks' or something similar.
Is it as bad as it was?

Sounds good.. We really want to go again next year, we've missed the place loads.. to some degree the hassle is missed too, but I really think it would be an even better place without it.
Or am I just a misery  :D

the hassle hasnt completely gone but i think thats what gives icmeler a bit of its charm as long as its done n moderation and isnt too much
its a lot better than it was though they have really controlled it in the last couple of years

I really think now the hairdressers are the worst culprits. I had just come from a hairdressers with my hair looking stunning and I felt a million dollars until walking back my apartment when another hairdresser asked if I wanted my hair done! I don't think he was ready for the barrage of sarcasm I gave him but he will think twice about hassling again lol!
It is annoying though when you are in all your finery and going out in the evening with whoever your holiday companions are to be asked by all the hairdresses you walk past if you want your hair/nails done.

The rainbow itself and the bar on the opposite corner, constantly hassling everyone to eat there. One owner putting on a ridiculous cockney accent to try and lure you in...I go to icmeler to hear turkish accents...if i wanted to hear londoners i would stay at home!!!

If someone hassles me endlessly I will go out of my way to avoid going anywhere near the place.. If someone hassles me with a smile and a joke then leaves me alone when I say no thanks I will go back there and eat at some point in my holiday.
Why can't the more aggressive hasslers see that? Or am I the only one that thinks that way?

Fake accents do my head in, everyone does a scouse one for me and I am not scouse, so I get all insulted, they soon be quiet hehe

No Baz I am exactly the same in doing that too

When we were last there we were hassled to death almost by a handbag place along the canal.. before we knew what had happened he had 2 bags and 2 purses in a carrier bag and was shoving them in my wifes arms.. When I said NO! NO! NO! he swore, waved his arms at us and threw the bags on the floor.
That kind of thing is just what I don't need.
I'm just glad that the majority aren't like that and are friendly.
