Worried - Visa Info

Under new Turkish Immigration Procedures, effective from 14 July 2010, British nationals (and the nationals of 62 other countries) will still be issued with a 90 day visitor's visa on arrival. However, this visa can no longer be renewed after 90 days. The visa can only be used for a stay of up to 90 days within a 180 day period. You will now need to wait until the 181st day before you can apply for another 90 day visitor's visa.

Well if this is the case: then howcome Shaz received this exacty type of visa on her entry on 28th of June along with many others probably?

Is it possible for a member of the ICR team to email Katiehutchinson_1991 to look at this thread, she may be looking at emails and not at the forum, I can't do it as she has not enabled emails on her profile, on page two of this topic she says she has the new style visa and hence may be caught by the scenario I described in my last post, As a major contributor to this site it would be nice to forwarn her to keep an eye on the situation. In fact maybe a global email would be worth while to all members.

This new law became official on the 14th July 2010.
My daughter is over there at the moment on the old visa this needs to be renewed on the 28th August.
I would imagine she could leave Turkey and re-enter when the new 180 day visa would come into effect.
The law has only changed this last week,people need to be notified of thier legal standing.
British Government have nothing in writeing yet.

I can see a lot of fines being issued and people banned from Turkey this next couple of months,thats all Turkey needs to build up her tourist industry.

It does look like it became official on the 14th July, but what is so infuriating is that before it became official they were issuing those stamps from the 28th June 2 weeks early..at Dalaman airport, with no explanation as to why it had changed.I myself received this stamp after a brief visit back to England.

Now some weeks later it is all becoming clearer.I personally just dont know why ? or understand how they just slipped it in with no notifications to anyone not even the British Embassy. Only now that people are becoming aware of it and questioning it, that the Turkish Authorities have now made it legitimate by saying this has come into force as of 14th July.

have read through all these posts and am a bit confused!can somebody give an answer to my situation?
arrived 28th june and left 13th july,got new style visa
going back 5th sept and leaving 16th sept ,i make that 81 days i will ahve had my visa.....so like in passed years when i have been lucky enough to get inside the 90 day rule .....DO i get away with not having to pay for a new visa OR will we have to buy a new one?

The way i read it is for those of us who go back for a week or two twice during the 6 month season we dont have a problem up to the 180 days.
BUT if you wanted to visit ,SAY Atalanya or Side area in the winter period then you would have a problem?

Any way for now just woory about my own problem..will we get back in without any problem?

I got one of the new style visas at Dalaman on 7/6/10 and am totally confused by what i've read on here and elsewhere!
All I can say is that I'm glad my August visit is still within 90 day of the june visa being issued, and I've sadly not got plans for a further trip after that this year

I'd be worried on relying on the info about the new visa on here which seems to be saying that the visa lasts 180 days and that within that 180 days, I can spend a total of 90 in Turkey and of course not work during that period - of course am happy to be corrected if someone's got the elusive definitive answer

Given all of the confusion, if I do manage to make it back to Turkey after AUgust, I'd rather pay another £10 for a new visa than risk a fine of £££££££s for misunderstanding the position

I think we need to wait for full written clarification to be recieved by the British Consulate, however my understanding on the information currently on the British Consulate website is that you cannot buy a new Visa until day 181 after your first visa purchase so you wouldn't be able to buy one to be on the safe side.

can anyone answer bought visa 12 june for 7days holiday and are comming back 30th august - 13th september which takes us passed 90 days does this mean cannot buy another visa

What it means is that you will need to obtain another Visa on arrival as you present one expires during your next holiday and therefore does not cover you for that last day....unfortunate

Yes this was posted on the previous pages but as it says the information has only been given Orally and so they must be waiting for official written confirmation.

I still find it hard to understand !! I arrived Dalaman on 4th June departed 18th june,going back 3rd Sept until 24th sept,Do I need to get another visa !!,its this 90 and 180 days that confuses me.

The way I understand it is you are aloud to stay for up 90 days is any 180 day period, but the visa only lasts 90 days.

So you can have a week in June, July, August and September but when you arrive back in September you will need a new visa because it is over 90 days.

You could have 2 weeks holiday in June then go back for 2 weeks in September because it is within the 180 day period, but you would need a new visa because it's over the 90 day visa period.

You could still do that.

You go to Istanbul in January and get a 90 day visa and go back for a week in April because you are within the 180 day limit. Depending on the dates you travel you may need a new 90 visa when you arrive back in April. The 180 day period doesn't start again because it is still running from your fist visit in January. Then you can go back in July because you have passed the original 180 day period that started in January. Then you can go back in October because it is within a 180 days of July, again you might need a new 90 days visa.

I am confused too - I have resıdency so I am fıne but my parents vısıt frequently. They ususally come Aprıl then throughout the summer untıl the last flıghts ın October/November. Now from what I understand - Theır 180 day vısa purchased ın Aprıl would be due to run out August/September? They wıll not exceed theır 90 days. Can they buy a new vısa when they come ın August (despıte havıng days left on the 180 day vısa?) or does the current vısa have to expıre before a new one can be purchased? In whıch case they would be ın Icmeler on the 180th day and so would have to go to Rhodes?

The way I'm reading this is if you buy your visa on the 1st January, it is then valid until the 29th June (180 days), you can use it to come and go up to that date as often as you want up to a total of 90 days. If you use up your 90 days before the 29th June you will then be barred from entering Turkey until the 30th June (181st day) when you can purchase a new visa.

I would say if their visa expires while they are on holiday they would have to leave Turkey on the expiry date and return the next day.
