Dalaman Airport

08 Jul 2010 21:35

Hahaha I knew it was expensive here but as I am nipping home for a week or so with my son and the Thomas Cook flight is delayed 6 hours we have paid £21 each to do the executive lounge (no alcohol included anymore) we were kicked out of there after 3 hours so in the bar facing

£11 for 2 330ml bottles of Efes

All we have seen is people arguing at the bar as they ordered first for kids cokes and then stung.

I needed a drink though

Had the same trouble with TC going out in may, 5 hour delay, and a £4 voucher to spend in Gatwick(who they kidding), and we lost our evening meal in resort that was paid for, and paid extra for a morning flight, and of course no recompense from them ,so me too never again with TC ( i,ll let everone guess what TC stands for to us now, answers on a postcard to Tc head office)

why did they kick you out after 3 hours ? Are you only allowed in there for a limited period of time ?

Re: Dalaman Airport

that's what i was thinking colette! if that's that case, it's a rip-off. surely when booking the lounge one of the factors you would be taking into consideration would be delays - i know it is for me.

it's a scandal that they are happy to take your money, but you are only allowed in for a certain amount of time. another dalaman con

Executive lounges in the UK are the same, 2 hours but will push to 3 but the difference in the UK ones is you could if you wanted get your monies worth with all the booze.

A woman came to the bar again while I was there for 2 small cokes (draft) and a fruit shoot £17

Think I was on that flight last night too! I paid 22 lira for a tub of pringles. What am I to do when my 3 year old is hungry? Total extortion.

that is absolutely scandalous - but you're right what other option do you have if your flight is delayed??

Re: Dalaman Airport

lol its a conspirecy between the airlines and dalaman they delay flights dalaman charge you a fortune for a drink then split it with the airlines

shall be eating and drinking before we leave and starving and dehydrating at dalaman thank you :?

Isn't this really a catch 22. Don't get me wrong the prices at the airport go way way behond remotely reasonable. Now if Turkey were in the EU I don't think they would be allowed to charge anywhere near these prices (maybe I'm wrong) so if theyre in the EU they will go into the Euro...more pricey over there, cheaper in the airport. It does seem though that airports in general rely on delays to rake in profits, which I personally find disgusting.

Re: Dalaman Airport

Since the opening of the new airport at Dalaman and its high unreasonable price structure we have stop spending any money either in the Food Hall or Duty Free as our way of protesting.
Depending on the time of flights if any eats may be needed we arrange to take something with us and have a drink of water at the last possible moment.
I have sent a message like other forum members to the Turkish Tourist Office in Mulga but got no satisfaction so I intend to carry on in this manner as my way of saying No Thank You

There is a security as you enter the airport, then after checkin, another, this is the one that you cant take liquids through, there isnt any security at the gates now.

This year we don't intend going airside until an hour before takeoff, that way if we are delayed we will still have liquids etc with us.

Nothing to do with TC, delays could happen with any airline at any airport. I had a similar delay with Turkish Airlines, Aeroflot, British Airways, Lufthansa, Onur Air...so, its not the company to blame here, after all, they dont profit from delays and actually loose out alot.

Not happy to hear about Dalaman airport prices however its run by a private German company named ATM so you can always send your "regards to them" and share your thoughts with them about their tenants and their pricing policy. Do not waste your time with contacting Turkish officials. They have no say over all this. Below is the contact details of the company that runs Dalaman Airport.
Address:
ATM Dalaman Havalimanı Dış Hatlar Terminali
48780 Dalaman / MUĞLA
Tel : +90.252.792 5555
Faks : +90.252.792 5565

As for the original post of Turkish bar staff calling customers bad names. I can imagine swear words going around amongst the turkish workers but highly doubt that they would be personally aimed at any of the customers. Knowing Turkish words as a tourist and picking them out is a different thing, but knowing where and how they could be used is a total different thing and unless you are a good Turkish speaker, its merely impossible to come to a final conclusion of things in that respect.
