Postby clare » 02 Aug 2006 21:49

I have just seen on the news about the british girls who have got burnt in Turkey, a fire show went wrong, that is really awful. I am glad that I do not go to these shows it just how dangerous they can be. :(

This tragic accident happened in the resort of Altinkum, when an outdoor fire act was performing his act round the pool area.
His fire breathing act went terribly wrong when the flames he breathed out covered the audience.
One little girl died and 9 people were injuied.
My sympathy goes out to the little girls parents and all the people injured in this accident.

All those people who have already holidayed in Turkey have at some time come across these fire shows and the waiters using the aerosol canisters
and lighting the vapour, also the lighting of fireworks in crowded rooms.

Just because you are on holiday does not make you immune from the danger that these sort of exihibitions can produce.

Fire is dangerouse wherever you are if you are in a bar were any of these things are happening be aware, watch the children in fact go outside you will be at less risk.
Having said that this accident happened outside round the pool area.
So the best thing is to avoid a situation were you are putting yourselfe and family in danger.

Well said Gene, this is a terrible terrible tragedy that you wouldn't wish upon any family, it makes it all the more worse that it was a child so young.

It brings us back to the fact that we all seem to let our guard down a little bit on holiday, fire is never safe.

It happened in Altinkum and the good old British press didn't report it until 4 days after the acident.

I have a very good friend who had an accident in his bar 3 years ago now and though the people are well over the accident he knew them very well and HE is still hurting himself over the incident.

Anyway just be careful as Gene said and things do happen everywhere.

I will lock this so as not to carry old stuff on.
