We went swimming with the dolphins last year in Cuba. Their enclosures were massive and they were free to jump out of them at anytime to roam the seas, and did, but they always came back as they love interacting with humans and enjoyed the attention, training and food on tap. What was abundantly clear was, they adored their trainers and they were all in superb condition.
We paid an extra tenner to be aquaplaned (if that is the right word) through the water by our feet on their noses. It was an experience of a lifetime and one that we'll never forget.
If the dolphins in
Icmeler are going to be kept in the same conditions as described above then fine, but if they are just going to be kept in a small enclosure for tourists to "gawp" at, then that is unforgiveably cruel, as they are beautiful, intelligent creatures. If it's the latter, then I think there will be lots of complaints - me for one.
