I agree with Starchild. I've been to
Icmeler five times now and the last time went to the L'Etoile (I'm the Scottish friend she mentioned) on Starchild's recommendation. I can't comment on the air conditioning as I went in October and it was wetter and cooler than normal this year.
As Star states I'm quite fussy with hotels and found this one to be generally very good. I think the rooms Star mentioned had a nicer outlook than mine - 511 - but mine had a double bed which is a real rarity when you book as a single person. It made a huge difference and I'd be more than happy to go back again (will be going in October again if my boss lets me have the time!)
The
hotel is very centrally placed, the rooms and public areas were immaculate. The food was buffet but decent quality buffet - the only gripe was the queue for the main course at dinnertime but then people do tend to do that as soon as the dining room opens!. Lots of tables - I never had to wait for one. The staff are very friendly and attentive - the tables were cleared quickly and the dining room kept very clean. The desserts were wonderful - as always in Turkey.
I can't comment on the pool as I don't swim at all. But the pool area always looked clean and was well used. The rooms all seem to have safes and if you want to phone home, there are payphones (phone card type) directly outside the main entrance.
It makes a big difference being able to get beach towels for a small deposit. While I don't swim, I do like to use the loungers or go on boat tours. The towels can be exchanged every morning so no having to worry about laundering them. If you don't go AI, there are plenty of nice restaurants nearby. Even if you do go AI - I like a change now and again and Cupid's, directly underneath the hotel, was great as was the Mandalin, just a couple of minutes away.
I think it's easy to find niggling little things about any hotel, especially in high season. But generally, any minor problems are far outweighed by the location, helpful staff, plentiful and tasty food and cleanliness.
